ABOUT ME

I teach Biology and Zoology for a public high school. I love my job! I also work as a summer camp counselor and tutor students afterschool occasionally. I love traveling, meeting new people, animals, and music.

PHILOSOPHY

I like to think I am somewhat open-minded. I love to learn new things-especially about cultures. I want to be friends with almost everyone and enjoy helping people. In the past year I have discovered that I'd much rather spend my life enjoying as much as I can than trying to plan all the time. Sure, I have to plan for the future, but I don't want to miss out on something because I am worried about my retirement plan!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I almost CSed in Italy two years ago. It didn't work out because I would only have one day to visit because of the train schedule. Hopefully I can return to Italy in the future and get to fulfill this opportunity!

Interests

I have SO many interests! I am a synchronized swimmer and have swam twice on the collegiate national level in the USA. I love most sports in general, especially football (american), soccer, and baseball-although usually I am an observer not a participater. I love music, culture, food, wine, beer, animals, skiing, the beach, shopping...the list goes on. Oh, and of course, I love traveling!

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Mary Poppins, Tombstone, anything with Leonardo DiCaprio in it, The Notebook, The Princess Bride, Forrest Gump...I'm sure I will think of more

Music: This could be a long list. I like music from almost every genre. Some of my favorites include Tim McGraw, Outkast, Kanye West, Mofro (look them up), Dave Matthews Band, Vanessa Carlton, The Beatles, The Eagles, Ghostland Observatory, MGMT, Paramore, Flyleaf, ...and there is this beautiful Portuguese singer whose name I cannot remember. This list could go on forever though.

Books: Harry Potter, Portnoy's Complaint, Night, Maus I & II, Tuesday's with Morrie, The Five People You Meet in Heaven, Twilight

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I backpacked through Switzerland and Italy on my own for two weeks. I met so many amazing people and experienced so many interesting things. As part of the trip I stayed on a hostel on the Ostia outside Rome. It was beautiful.
