About Me

CURRENT MISSION

connect people

ABOUT ME

I love making connections with other people. I travel alot. I enjoy finding the "local" bars, restaurants, parks, things to do, off the beaten track stuff. I am a snowboarder, jogger, play soccer, raise Guide Dog puppies for the blind, teach parenting classes, work for a major airline(yes i get to travel for free!), am writing a book on parenting, trying to de-clutter my life, taking a computer class, travel all over the world, have a worm composting bin, huge dog advocate, a COmmissioner of Parks & Recreation in the city of Manhattan Beach, surfer, and know that it is 5 o'clock somewhere!

PHILOSOPHY

Each day when you get up in the morning you have a choice about how to spend that day. What you do with your life is up to you, trying hard to keep all the doors open. When you show kindness to others, it comes right back at you. Sincerity is right up there in importance, along with optimistic point of view, health, family and friends, and having fun. Usually what i dont like about someone else is usually something i dont really like about myself! Karma. What goes around comes around. Following my own path. Trying hard not to complain (allow myself one complaint a day!) and not to judge. I am all about doing it now!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Got interested in couch-surfer project through my daughter who has been surfing for about a year. At first, she thought it might be weird for me to be "older" and be a couch surfer but has since had some great experiences with hosts who have kids or kids away from home so thought i would give it a try. When I travel it's usually for short periods of time so I want to make the most of it so I hit the deck running! and try to find the local spots to go to besides just touristy places. I think meeting other people and learning about their lives brings meaning to my life. I like the organized feel of couchsurfing and the safety aspect (of course , I'm a mom!) So, like most everything else I am giving this a try!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've surfed in Paris,Dubai, the Czech Republic, Thailand, Vietnam, Guam... all fabulous experiences! I have hosted people from all over the world! It is a great way to meet people!

Music, Movies, and Books

wish i had more time for books and movies. Bought myself an IPOD and asked family and friends to send me their top 10 or more songs in life so when i listen i have playlists from alot of my favorite people and I think about them.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have walked on this earth for a while now and hope to leave it better than i found it, and my life is filled with amazing amazing things... just to name a few - have two wonderful kids, share my talents to help parents raise their kids well and to give the gift of freedom of mobility to a visually disabled people by raising puppies for Guide Dogs of America, traveled all over the world - Zimbabwe, Hawaii,Belguim, Germany, mother-son surf trip to Australia, New Zealand, England, the Caribbean, snowboarded in Colorado, Utah, California, the Alps, watched the sunrise over the Rio Negra in the Amazon, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Mexico, Japan, Ocean City NJ, Canada, lived in Paris for a year, learned how to surf at age 50, was in an American Express commercial, live a very blessed life - knock on wood!....

Teach, Learn, Share

I want to understand more about the philosophy behind couch surfing, not just as a place to stay but somehow to join people in the world.
