About Me

Hello everyone!
We are two ladies in their 30’s.
Nurah is from Detroit, Michigan, home of the electronic world music festival, and Sabine is from Bordeaux, France, where the best wine comes from. Don't argue with her on that, she knows her wine! :)
We met in 2005 and have been friends ever since, even when Sabine had to go back to France, we always stayed in contact.
Nurah is a benefits analyst (design and consult health care plans for companies).
Sabine is a nanny and a dogwalker.
This is what we used to do for a living, but we are really creative crafty women.
We were both living in NYC until a month ago when we decided to make a big change for the better.
So here we are now!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

It all started in August 2015.
We spent a weekend together and started talking about how we felt about our lives. We're ladies, we are very in touch with our feelings!
Very quickly we realized our minds were in the same place. We were both unhappy with our jobs, kind of over the noise and overwhelming vibe of the city. Also we couldn't see ourselves going through another Winter in NYC.
We both wanted more nature and feel more free and be in tune with our deeper selfs. We are spiritual beings after all, and we thrive to connect with new people.
You know, life goes by fast and as we get older we go back to more simple things. Feeling good about what we do and being happy to just breathe fresh air, walk barefoot in the grass, hug trees. For us it's all about meeting other souls and building a new community of friends.
We are really looking to find the perfect place to settle, and when we do we would love to offer our home and couch for daring people like us.
We were actually talking about having a big reunion and invite all the hosts we are going to meet on this exciting adventure.
So if you want to be one of them and share good times with wonderful spirited people, invite us in your home, you won't be sorry!
We have nothing to offer but good vibes and love. We are low maintenance and we just want to live a little and have fun.
We hope to hear from you soon, guys!

Interests

Nurah likes to cook vegan recipes and wants to explore a lot more about new vegan organic restaurants. She is an amazing cook. She is deeply interested in plant science too.
Sabine is currently writing a TV series and keeping a traveling journal. She also loves photography and is a TV geek (The good shows!). Acting is her first choice of career, which she used to do in France but always wanted to do in America.
She also does tarot readings and celebrates the Moon any chance she gets, and practices yoga.
We love art, writing, creating, meditating. It might sound cheesy but both of us are simply in love with life!

Music, Movies, and Books

Nurah loves Coldplay and Morcheeba. And a lot more...
Her favorite movies include The English patient, Braveheart, Rob Roy, Pride & Prejudice. She also loves the new series Sense 8. Also anything sci-fi works for her!
She enjoys history books, non fiction books. She is an avid reader.
Sabine enjoys any kind of music except techno and house music!
She likes so many different movies, it's difficult to pick! Old Boy is definitely one of her favorite (Not the new one, the Korean one!), Beetlejuice, Memento, Fight Club, Usual Suspects. Jack Nicholson is her god!
When it comes to books, she loves Jonathan Safran Foer's Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, as well as Everything Is Illuminated. She is a big fan of Bukowski, Burrows, Fante (father & son) and Neil Gaiman. Lately she's been reading more spiritual books and would totally recommend you to read The Power of Now from Eckart Tolle. This book changed the way she sees life and brought her where she is today.. On the Road!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Nurah volunteered in the South Bronx as an educational college consultant. It was great working with families and leading them towards new opportunities that they had no idea existed.

Sabine left her home country to move to a foreign country and she believes that what she's living right now is probably the most amazing thing she had to experience so far! She hopes it will bring her closer to her real purpose.

Teach, Learn, Share

Both of us can teach you about cooking (Healthy vegan dishes for Nurah and European cuisine for Sabine)
Sabine can teach you some French and a bit of juggling.
Nurah wants to learn guitar.
On the road we plan to stop to learn about farming.
We both share the love of nature and animals.
Our desire is to spread our good energy and joy to everyone we meet.
We are in a Flower Power kind of mood!!!

I think this one question is covered or do we have to say it again!?
