About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Traveling, meeting new people, and helping all beings.

ABOUT ME

Hello everyone! My husband and I are moving from Washington, DC to Long Beach, CA and want to drive cross country. He is getting out of the military and we are moving back to his hometown. We will have our wonderful Redbone Coonhound Wilie with us.
I went on my first big adventure throughout Europe and Turkey for two and a half months in the summer of 2010 and it was fantastic! I Couchsurfed the whole time and had only amazing experiences with wonderful people. I totally fell in love with the CS community and have been itching to couch surf again ever since.

PHILOSOPHY

Quotes that strike the nail on the head: Live simply so that others may simply live; Dream as if you'll live forever, live as if you'll die tomorrow; Only a life lived for others is a life worth living. In my own words: do what makes you happy as long as it harms no other sentient being, and do whatever you can to help others.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

So far I've only surfed and networked online but my husband and I will be hosting as soon as we're settled in Long Beach.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I was hosted by numerous amazing people on my eurotrip and was more than totally satisfied with every experience! I absolutely cannot wait to get my own place and reciprocate!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: reggae, jam band, ska, punk, bluegrass, hiphop that talks about more than sex drugs and violence. LOVE horns and some good drum beats! Tribal Seeds, Railroad Earth, Rising Appalachia, Vagabond Swing, Rusted Root, Bad Religion, Mad Caddies, Phish, Widespread Panic, Cat Empire, Burning Spear, Peter Tosh, Bob/Ziggy/Damian/Ky-Mani Marley, Dispatch, OAR, SOJA, Rebelution, Majek Fashek, Wu Tang Clan, Michael Franti, Sarazino, Angelique Kidjo, Maskavo, Natiruts, Seu Jorge, Saul Williams, Talib Kweli, Enya, Rancid, Catch 22, Streetlight Manifesto, The Roots, Toots and Maytals, Alpha Blondy, Specials, slackers, Bob Dylan, Buffalo Springfield, Judy Collins, Neil Young, Matt Nathanson, Sublime, Tinariwen, UB40, We Are The Union, White Rabbits, Ben Harper, Ben Folds, Flogging Molly, Dropkick Murphys, Dead Kenendys, Agent Orange, Animal Liberation Orchestra, Bouncing Souls, Buju Banton, Beres Hammond, Morgan Heritage, Daft Punk, dragonforce, Ekolu, Israel Kamakawiwoʻole, etc...

Movies: a lot of stuff, mostly trippy, unique, interesting ones...I don't really have much time to watch them right now but I liked Avatar and Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland. I like documentaries too. My all-time faves are the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Just amazing story, cinematography, music, scenery, everything! I'll add more when I can think of them.

Books: I read a lot of non-fiction about animals, nature, music, people, places, nutrition, etc. but I also love fiction. I've always been drawn towards faeries, elves, and other similar creatures so I love fantasy books, and really anything that intrigues me.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Going to school in the Swiss Alps and Couchsurfing around Europe "after" my high school graduation for 2 months changed my life. But fantastic things happen every moment, you just have to have an open mind and see the beauty in things. :]

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach English and sort of German-I can speak/read/write/understand it for the most part but all the little grammar details mess me up! I can teach about raw/vegan nutrition, though I'm still a student myself. I know a lot about plants and nature. I'm also a pretty good cook. My husband speaks fluent French and knows how to jerry rig basically anything,as well as land navigation & survival skills
