About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To blend writing with life--not an unusual objective, but a tricky one....

ABOUT ME

I love the world--its tastes, smells, sounds, and its eccentricities! I am an avid traveler and I absolutely adore Europe and South America...have lived in Spain, Malta, and Colombia, and the Sonoran Desert (Tucson, AZ). Right now, I'm living and teaching in Long Beach, California. Love meeting new people, learning new languages, tasting new foods, and having great conversation!

PHILOSOPHY

If you can't write about it, go do something you can write about.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

This will be my first time surfing! (I can't believe I hadn't learned about this service until now...what a wonderful way to connect and share the world!) I'd love to help support by offering my tiny couch as well :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Well, I haven't officially couch-surfed before, but I've had my share of staying with friends' friends and such. I've always had a positive experience and always bring at least one bottle of wine (or beverage preference of choice!) to my hosts....I also like to leave places cleaner than I found them!

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm a writer. I write literary nonfiction, travel writing, narrative, essay, hybrid nonfiction, and love reading it. I love nothing more than a good anthology of CNF or a good memoir.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hmm. One amazing thing? I'd say swimming in El Volcan del Totumo in northeast Colombia was pretty amazing--it's a special mud volcano with cleansing properties in the bath, and it's very smelly, and very messy! Also, living in Malta and getting to know the beautiful tiny island was an experience I will never, ever forget.
