About Me
** SORRY, but due to my flat situation (sharing my apartment with 2 more flatmates) I cannot host anyone by the moment**
BEFORE YOU SEND ME A REQUEST, please, read my profile (yes, AAAAAAAALL OF IT! ^^)
I would appreciate a personal request, so if you don't want to make some effort here, don't bother sending it (I'm not going to make one either replying or hosting you). If your request is the same as you sent 20 other people, don't expect an answer from me. And please, make it as request, so it's send to my calendar! :)
I'm Noemí, and was born close to the 90's on the south of Catalonia, a spot between two natural parks (Ebre Delta's Natural Park and Mont Caro Natural Park). I lived in France during my Erasmus and in Ireland as a teenager to improve my English. I moved to Barcelona when I was 18 to get into university, where I studied to be a chef, kept on studying Tourism degree and finished with a restaurant and hotel management master degree. Now, I keep on studying, getting a master degree in soustainable tourism (I can't stop learning ^_^' ) and I plan to get my Gastronomy Doctorate in a few years.
Actually I work as Hotel Software consulting, but I would love to go back to what I really love, my passion: food and service to clients.
I love traveling and discovering new (to me) ways of life and of thinking. learning about a country and not only visit it, getting to know people who can show me their normal life and not just monuments, be in a town or a country as a local and eat their food and visit their common places. Usually begining a trip is the moment to start thinking (and saving money) about the next one,,,
I love art and industrial design, eating and food, discovering new flavours and mixes, being spontaneous and crazy, and look forward to meet people who can feed my life. I love preparing Sunday lunch for all my friends (so if you are our guest on Sunday, you will be sharing the table with 10 crazy and awesome people).
"Sometimes I pretend to be normal. But it gets boring. So I go back to being me." - Ain Eineziz
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Let's say thing clear:
I am NOT running a hostel, so be respectful: you are asking someone to share their home with you,
NOT a 24/7 accomodation. So, you have to leave the house when we leave it, and come back before we go sleeping. We have to work, you are on holidays.
NOT a tourist guide, you'll have to discover the city on your own, We can share plans if I'm free and tip you about the city and places to go / to avoid, but I'm not sure to have plenty of time to share with you.
definitely NOT going to acknowledge an impolite request ("hey there I'm coming to Barcelona can you host me LOL?" and the likes).
NOT providing free accommodation just so you can save money, I'm sick of people wanting to use my place to save money but don't take a full minute to share a cup of coffee/beer/wathever and know each other a little bit.
I'm not making a job out of hosting people, meaning I'm not interested to host the first person that sends me a request. I don't like having strangers in my place, so I would like to host people who I might keep contact with, who might become friends, who I might want to visit back, People who I feel interested or connected to when reading their request and the other way round when they read my profile.
Also, I am very often asked to be friend by a lot of people. I am very honored about that I accept only people I know for real (hosting, being hosted or meeting).
Interests
I could never stop writing things on here,,,, but let's write some of them:
Food and Gastronomy >I love food,,,, i've got an affair with it each time we meet. It's something that absolutely defines me. Reading recipe books, whatching movies and series about it, trying new recipes (endangering my friends and cats with them) and going to new restaurants (when I can save some money). I've started an instagram accound (@gat_cendros) where I post recipes, reviews, and where I do my owm Julie&Julia project.
Pole dancing > I've recently discovered this sport, and the truth is that I really enjoy it. The atmosphere, friendship and trust in the others that you have to develop is liberating. The best about it is that there's no need to be good at it. I mean,,, is very mind healthy to do something just for yourself, not having to care about doing it perfectly
Sports > I've recently discovered the satisfaction of defeating myself. Next challenge: Spartan Trifecta on 2018, begining in Mallorca on March.
Pets > It's very difficult for me to live without the unconditional love that gives you a pet. So now I share my spot on the couch with two lovely cats: Loch Arthur and Scone (you remember my obsession with food?). Because of my job, I can't take care of my french bulldog now, Beignet, so she's with my mum, but occasionally comes to visit me.
Discover the world while discovering me > I enjoy travelling on my own, As it can be a bit scary too, you find out that its not as horrifying as you may think, and being on your own it's easier to meet people in youth hostels, locals, and passengers on your same flight or train.
Creativity > I admire artist and people who are creative. I enjoy photography (even I'm not good at it,,,) and the DIY way of doing this (I'm not good at it either)
- pets
- books
- photography
- hiking
- snorkeling
- languages
- food
- nature

- wild animals
- cooking and baking
- spartan race
Music, Movies, and Books
Yes, yes and yes!
I can't stand being in a room without music, so any type of music is fine for me (at least for a while). Totally in love with 80's music (Aerosmith, U2, Rolling Stones, Depeche Mode,,,)
I read anything I can grab,,,, from a cooking book to a Dotstoievski novel. Now, on my bedside table a Hygge manual, a recipe book of french cooking (on my @gat_cendros project) and a gastronomy magazine.
And movies,,,, I've got a serious problem now Netflix has arrived to Spain. Adicted to movies and series (my pending list has no end).
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Being a volunteer in Sri Lanka, travelling on my own, has been one of the most terrifying things I've done, but also one of the most amazing things in my life. As volunteer you get very involved with locals, even the language barrier may be hard to overcome, so you can exchange points of view, traditions and expectations about life. It was a revealing experience, that makes you conscious about what we are used to.
Snorkeling in a bank of tuna, while they were fed. It was amazing seeing those huuuuuuuge creatures swiming at 15cm from my body, in the middle of the sea.
Teach, Learn, Share
I don't think I can teach anything to anyone,,, actually I prefer the word sharing,,, To teach sound so,,,, strict.
I can't keep on learning, from university, books, magazines,,,, but most of all from people. Anywhere, anytime. Most unexpected people are the ones who can share their knowledge.
Sharing,,, of course! A glass of wine or a beer, experiences, travel stories, opinions and points of views, life stories, laughs and ________ (fill the blank)
What I Can Share with Hosts
My home, fist of all!
As I said, the weekends that I'm in Barcelona I enjoy preparing a Sunday luch for my friends. So if you're on the city that day, we will put an extra dish on the table.
