About Me

Hello!
I'm Nora, I'm 27 and I'm from the wonderful city of Montreal, Canada.

I studied environmental science and upon graduating decided to pack a 38L backpack and set out on a year-long trip around the world. I went to Central America, South East Asia and Europe. I stopped traveling after a year and moved to the Netherlands to study biomedical science, then medicine. After living in the Netherlands for 7 years, my partner Owen and I decided to leave the flatlands behind and have recently moved to the city of Visp, in the heart of the Swiss Alps.

I've had some amazing experiences while couchsurfing and would love to give back to.the community so now that im working full time I'm available to host ☺️

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think that travel is about getting to know the local culture as closely as possible, and there's no better way to do that than talk to the locals themselves. Also relying on the kindness of strangers is just about the most human thing that anyone can do, and excellent practice for taking yourself less seriously.

If you do want to stay with us, please tell us a bit about yourself first and we'll get back to you as soon as possible!

Interests

I'm passionate and I love pottery, photography, music, reading, running, being outside and so many other things.

I've spent my vacations in the mountains since before I can remember, and getting away from city life is what keeps me going. I love to hike, canoe, camp and anything else that involves living away from home for a while.

Music, Movies, and Books

If you put any cookbook in my proximity, the chances are very high that I will sit down wherever I am and only return to normal society once I am done reading it cover to cover.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My excellent sense of coordination and balance has caused me to flip canoes in rapids more times than I can count, but then again there's something fun about tumbling down rapids at uncontrollable speed.

Also some of my favorite experience of my gap yea were been living in an off-the-grid community in the northern Nicaraguan highlands, teaching english in a rural Cambodian school and almost freezing to death while solo hitchhiking around Iceland (it's a good story to tell now that I'm home safe).

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm an outgoing and open-minded person and I want to get a chance to simply listen to life stories and philosophies! I can also teach you shape a baguette loaf, bake apple crumble and how to count to 20 in Dutch!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I would love to cook for you - if you have an oven then I can also bake you some treats!
I can introduce you to the niche that is french canadian music, if that is something you're interested in knowing more about
