About Me

I CAN'T HOST AT THE MOMENT! However, I'd like to meet up with you and walk around Paris (no tourist hotspots though) if it seems we have some strong interests/values in common...

I'm just a spontaneous person always eager to meet people. I don't like organized systems of any kind - except living ones, like you and me.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favourite movie of all time is Stalker, which I first saw when I was very young and which thus influenced all the things I like to this day: weeds and chaotic plants, abandoned places, distorted sounds, humble and kind people, passion (it's all in this movie!).

I couldn't decide on which books I prefer, but one writer I really like is Raymond Carver, and the way he suggests such complex emotions in so few words, without any ornament or pretension.

I like almost all kinds of music, and I'm always curious to listen to more. As long as it's not a manufactured product and it's authentic & beautiful, I'm most certainly interested in it. To give a few random examples, lately I've been listening a lot to Angolan musicians from the 70s such as Artur Nunes, 60s-70s krautrock bands like Can, Cluster, Amon Düul, 80s proto-house act Hypnobeat etc. etc....Anyway, the point is that I'm always eager to share and talk about music!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went to a house in Croatia that was an image of history. It was an abandoned place that did not make any sense: in one room there were all these newspapers from the 50s up to the 90s, hundreds of different titles lying on the floor; in another one there was a giant abacus, 3 metres tall; yet another room had a miniature toilet and a tiny bathtub & sink; another room was empty, except for a clothes iron still hanging from a socket; next to it, a room with carpets on the walls and birds flying through it. A small cat led us to another floor, where there was a room with medical equipment and stretchers, next to one with two garden benches and empty beer cans. And so on...then a room with damaged accountant's books, then one with a lot of silver spoons...It was like Alice in Wonderland. In the centre of the house there was a room that had been walled in, a place that you could only guess existed, but had no access to. I came out of there trying to make sense of it all, and after a while I realized it's just layers and layers of things that happened at different times that are now juxtaposed. And that history makes no sense.
