If you are interested in the Geisha world, I highly recommend Mr. Peter MacIntosh, who is an expert in Kyoto’s Gokagai, which consists of five different districts (Gion-kouku, Gion-higashi, Pontocho, Miyagawacho, and Kami shichiken). He has been living in Kyoto for 33 years and knows the Gokagai world better than the Japanese because Gokagai has many unspoken rules and secrets.
