ABOUT ME

I am very grateful to have been raised in Northern California and am extremely proud of my Mexican heritage and blue collar background. Despite the dissatisfaction I feel towards many aspects of my society, I feel lucky to have experienced such a unique life growing up. From years of traveling I have developed a strong social consciousness that has opened my eyes to the massive global inequalities, environmental degradation, and universal suffrage that exists throughout the world. It is this consciousness that has ingrained in me a deep passion for social justice. This passion is closely matched by my eternal love for the natural world. Over the years I have developed an inseparable bond with nature, a bond that continuously draws me into the wild. I can often be found hanging in my hammock in one of the many California wilderness areas. As for my personality, I consider myself very respectful, considerate, and open minded towards the many beliefs held by others. I also have a goofy side and can find humor in the simplest of things.

Just moved to Arcata and looking forward to making new friends in the community.

PHILOSOPHY

I live my life in a one love frame of mind. I strongly believe in the African humanist philosophy of ubuntu. I strongly oppose capitalism and feel that it is an evil system. I am constantly trying to resist the influences of materialism, while at the same time searching for alternative ways to live.

I have been hosted in both Costa Rica and Peru and plan to host in the near future.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I surfed with some amazing people in Costa Rica and Peru. My hosts treated me with compassion and trust. I had amazing experiences with them.

Music, Movies, and Books

Reggae music is my spiritual base. It is the revolutionary music of our time. My favorite bands include:
Rebelution, S.O.J.A., Matisyahu, The Green, Expendables, Slightly Stoopid, Iration, Bob and Damian Marley.
Other artists: Dub fx, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Tupac, Blackmill.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Completed a solo backpacking trip for 2 1/2 months through 3 countries in Latin America.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have traveled extensively throughout the world and within many wilderness areas in California. I have developed a good understanding of backpacking and would love to share my experiences, while also hearing from others about theirs. I am eager to learn to surf and am also very interested in learning about organic agriculture.
