About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To be killed a little by adventure.

ABOUT ME

Raised on books and a healthy dose of the outdoors, I've found myself wanting more.

I have a constant need to move and to create. This evidences itself mainly in travel and photography. When I'm in one place for too long I get antsy, but in the meantime I love to cook (gluten free!), hike, and explore every part of where I am. I'm a huge advocate of being a tourist in your own town, but I'm still learning how best to do this.

PHILOSOPHY

I teach others to embrace their best health, travel to survive, eat gluten-free to live, and never want to stop moving forward.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I LOVE surfing, but I'm finally getting the chance to host, as well. I've now settled back home in Kansas City, MO with my husband (whom I bonded with over couchsurfing) and our two cats.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I haven't been able to host much, but so far my experiences have been wonderful as a surfer. Couchsurfing is something you just can't replicate. The people I've met have been fantastic: generous, welcome, and so willing to do what they can to make both couchsurfing and travel more wonderful.

Interests

Sky, earth, books and their little stores, good conversation/random connections with strangers, postcards, local produce, living out of a car by choice, cars made in the 60s, camping. I'm a trained chef and a certified traditional naturopath so be prepared to be cooked for.

Music, Movies, and Books

My musical taste is varied from wold music to jazz to indie to electronic to folk to prog rock to trip-hop to classical. If it's inventive and tells something through the sound and words, I'm there.

Some bands I really love:
Kishi Bashi
TV on the Radio
My Morning Jacket
Tame Impala
Portugal the Man

A few of the movies I enjoy are Inception, Akira Kurosawa's films, and anything with some passion behind it; my boyfriend's taught me to really enjoy documentaries, as well, especially ones about our world and how we function in it. Some authors I love are Robin Hobb, Neil Gaiman, Robert Louis Stevenson, Alexandre Dumas, Sherman Alexie, and others.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Seeing trillions of stars out in the wilds of the midwest, far from civilization. You never realize how expansive the sky is till you've looked at the night sky somewhere truly dark.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm always up for learning something new.

As far as something I can share, in my short life experience, I do have experience in cooking good food gluten-free. I'm a trained chef and a certified naturopath with emphasis on healing foods. If you're curious, let me cook you something!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I would love to cook for you!
