COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

In the past I've hosted a few German travelers in Halifax for an extended stay and couch surfed briefly around the North-Eastern US. Very positive experiences all around.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In 2010 I was stranded in Capbreton, France. I don't like to plan my vacations at all, and this time I ended up in a small village without any hotel reservation or any other accommodations.

I went to the surf shop, left my valuables and passport with the owner, and then bought a beach towel.

I took my towel down to the beach, found some kind of makeshift shelter thing and tore it apart. I lit four or five fires around myself using the wood and slept under the towel. It was like 14C and one of my more miserable nights of traveling!
