À propos de moi

CURRENT MISSION

See how I can best help conserve the beautiful world around me, and help others do the same.

ABOUT ME

Ive been living in Costa Rica for almost 3 years, working towards a masters degree in Wildlife Conservation and Management. Its quite a change from the streets of Brooklyn and it suits me well. I love traveling, seeing new places and meeting all sorts of new people. I think traveling has allowed me to expand and deepen my understanding of the world and of life in general. Living and studying in Costa Rica has afforded me the opportunity to satisfy all of those desires and then some.

PHILOSOPHY

I think the most important thing in life is to treat the planet and other people well. If you do good to others it is more than payed back. No one is perfect and its always good to be patient, understanding and forgiving. Being helpful when you can means you'll find the help you need. Try to make a positive difference in the world around you and be optimistic! Life is too short not to appreciate it and the beauty around us everyday.

Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I travel quite often myself so dont get to host as much as Id like, but do try to attend CS events when I can. I have some good CS friends who Ive met since I moved out here. Lovely people....

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I spent 2 months couchsurfing through western europe and have had many "unofficial" couchsurfing experiences throughout my travels. Staying with someone local is a fabulous way to experience firsthand local cultures and beats a hotel any day in my book. I try to offer my home to those on the road whenever I can.

Centres d'intérêt

I love everything that has to do with nature and wildlife, including hiking, camping, photography, swimming, surfing, climbing trees. I love cycling, both mountain and road. Reading is a great substitute when travel isnt an option. Not afraid to admit Im a computer nerd, and still enjoy programming when the cause is right!

Love meeting new people and trying to experience life through their eyes. Its amazing what you can learn about the world through simple conversation, and when difference in languages is too much, some friendly smiles will do!

Morceaux de musique, films et livres

I love reading, and exactly what is always changing. Lately Ive been reading a lot of books related to the work I do, mainly conservation and the social sciences. Theres a lot to learn out there, and plenty of smart people have plenty of smart things to say. I also enjoy getting lost in a good novel, but sometimes have to remind myself of that. Joseph Heller, fellow brooklyner, (Catch 22) is probably my favorite fiction writer, as well as John Irving (The World According to Garp).

Edward O Wilson (Diversity of Life) is a new personal hero of mine.

The book that has probably had the most impact on my life of all the many Ive read over the years is Ishmael, by Daniel Quinn. Id love to hear what others have thought about it.

Music is an ever changing passion of mine, currently fascinated by all things World. Putumayo is amazing! I also love jazz, especially live, and love gettin down to some funky beats.

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue

The best trip Ive ever taken was a 2000 mile bike ride down the west coast of the US. Traveling by bike is such a sensory experience, allowing to hear, feel, smell and even taste the world around you. Its slow enough to really savor it all, but fast enough to not get bored. I can't wait to plan out the next route!

Enseignez, apprenez, partagez

Ive spent most of my time thinking about nature conservation lately, so Im happy to share any knowledge I have.
