About Me

Hi There!

Writing about myself is an awkward task, but here goes nothing!

I am a recovered college graduate, wishing I'd never bothered. All I really want to do it hop around the world to meet new people and make new friends. I work in film making things look pretty, which isn't the most terrible gig in the world. I love Los Angeles but am always finding reasons to be anywhere else.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I started couchsurfing when I backpacked in Australia and hosted when I moved to Sydney (unfortunately all through my flat mate's account!). We had a blast hosting then and I hope to start hosting again soon! My boyfriend is also a host in Wrightwood, CA and we have a blast with hikers who are on the PCH and stay over at his place via CS. I love the idea of visiting a place as a local and really digging in, as I dont think the typical tourist agenda much suits me very much. I'd love to stay over or just meet up for drinks for some local insight and fun!

Interests

I love to do all things new! I'm not afraid of much and love adventuring (though sometimes I have no idea what I'm doing!) I love to ride around new places and eat and drink and learn. I love all animals and it's difficult for me to walk past them without acknowledging them lovingly, hehe. I prefer to be outdoors these days. I love camping and don't need much else than a sleeping bag (and my boyfriends superior campfire cooking skills.) I like to take photos and paint (though I don't do it enough). I practice Yoga and try to stay active as much as possible while I'm home. My dog is named Bowie and it hurts my soul to leave her at home while I'm traveling so she comes with me if we're driving, usually. I love food. Food, food, food. I don't eat meat but seafood is my favorite. (Pescatarian, if you're, like, into labels man.)

Music, Movies, and Books

I don't even know where to begin here! I love blues and jazz, mostly. As I get older, I find myself thinking that it's all that's worth listening to (which obviously isn't true but seems like a right of passage to becoming older, haha.) I thought that I kind of knew how to dance but I could really use more practice! I love to trade music, though. It's my favorite way to discover.

My favorite movies are ultra stylized. I love Tarantino and Spike Jonez. I also like horror and classic comedy, murder mysteries and period pieces. I like movies about space and about the unusual. As long as it has a good story, essentially, i'm into it. Hopefully the production design is exciting, too, so I don't judge it too much!)

My favorite authors are Chuck Klosterman and Augusten Burroughs. I also quite love Bob Dylan and books about Apes. I've almost finished reading through Jane Goodall's works. I like reading about most things non-fiction and preferably with a good sense of humor.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I think that maybe the happiest moment of my life was bathing with Elephants in a river in Thailand. Ugh! I'd prefer to be doing that every moment of every day!

Teach, Learn, Share

I love learning new crafts! I like making and building and creating and imagining!
