About Me

Hi, I'm Nathan. I recently graduated from MIT with a math major, and I've just started working at Google in Mountain View as an engineer on Search. I've done a lot of math and algorithms for most of my life, so this job is right up my alley and I'm really excited about it!

In my free time, I like making video games, solving puzzles, playing the violin, singing (mostly choral music), and trying new places to eat. I'm also excited about teaching -- last year, I helped teach a ~150-person class at MIT based around building programs to play a computer game against each other. Helping people understand how the game worked and getting them excited about it was amazingly satisfying and fulfilling to me. I hope I can incorporate teaching into my job someday, somehow.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've spent a lot of my life in a (rather insular) tech bubble, and I want to travel and see new cultures and lifestyles. Some of my most valuable moments of growth for me as a person came from talking to people at MIT who had very different priorities, backgrounds, and outlooks on life than the community I come from. I can't wait to meet more interesting people like that in the places I go.
