About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To simply practice "Being" and to photograph what ever it is that inspires me and participate in all the cultures of the world.

ABOUT ME

My background is as a professional Photographer. However while always doing that, I have been a pilot, a builder, Ive dabbler in investing and property and always consider life from a spiritual perspective.

I have no home anywhere in the world now and have been traveling the world since Jan 2009 (nearly 7 years) with no end in sight.

Couch Surfing and traveling is the way that I really get to know people and their cultures. This is fundamentally what I do with my travels.

Probably my most interesting experiences and images to date have came out of the two years I spent in Africa where I traveled and immersed myself living with and photographing many of the disappearing tribes in Namibia, Kenya and Ethiopia. You can see some of this work and other aspects of my art photography, being my B&W landscape nude work at www.nickash.com

For more photography, friends, references Facebook and skype you can find me with my email address: nickpossum@hotmail.com

A large aspect of my life, and what greatly shapes me to this day, was living for 10 years with my spiritual teacher. These, were unequivocally the most intense yet most valuable years of my life to date.

PHILOSOPHY

Learn to be a "Humane Being", before being a "Humane Doing".
If no one is around to experience you, do you still exist?
Do what you have to do, so you can do what you love to do.
Feel and participate in life and love and let the magic of existence unfold.
Life rightly lived is an expression of Happiness, rather than a search for it.
Life is more of a process of unlearning what you have already learned.
Give to others what they did not think to give to themselves.
The universe is always a play of polarized opposites, good and bad. Always! The test is to maintain your balance and happiness during the swings .
You can not hold onto anything...anything! so why stress trying.
I have given up on any personal philosophy. There is no separate person. Its all an illusion.
And finally... Keep it simple, stupid.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I always give back to my Couch hosts in any way that i can. Practically, I can fix many things, having a background in Building, Mechanics, Art and Design. I like to teach Photography, English and swimming. I like to cook or prepare great salads or take my hosts out for a meal. I always treat my hosts and the people I meet with equality, respect and great gratitude for providing a home for the time I am with them.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

The CS community ceases to amaze me. I have met so many great, wonderful and extraordinary people that have given so generously with their time, energy and local knowledge. I have never had a bad experience with anyone on CS. This is truly an amazing way to travel the world, meet people and become immersed in new cultures through their lives.
