Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I was couchsurfing with four of my friends in Spain back in August 2010 and had a bit of a catastrophic experience in Murcia but then forgot all about it with two of the most amazing hosts in Malaga (Franco your rock) and Sevilla. You win some you lose some :P I really enjoy fun and outgoing people who do not complicate too much and are not rigid and uptight but are well mannered and make you feel welcomed at the same time. Currently I am available for meet ups but you can still ask me for a place to stay since this often varies.

During my Erasmus in Ghent, Belgium (Feb - June 2015) I travelled to Gran Canaria where I spent an amazing time with a few couchsurfers. We rented a car with one of the guys and drove up north the first day and checked out the south of GC the second day. I've participated in some couch surfing meet-ups in Ghent, met up with an Italian named Guido to show him around and I was hosted by Talal in Berlin together with my friend in May 2015.

I decided to meet up with my Erasmus friends for NYE 2019 in Riga and couchsurfed with the awesomest local for 1 night and a PhD student from Turkey for 3 nights. I also met up with a student from Oman to visit Jurmala and go to the movies and enjoy my last day in Riga.

I stayed with Emre and his cousin in Novi Sad, Serbia, June 2019 for 2 nights. I cannot describe how welcomed they made me feel and contributed to my whole Exit festival experience. We stayed at Emre's studio the three of us, enjoyed going out to eat and also got to dance to the best dj sets in this world, experiencing the sunrise in a crowd of a couple of thousand people all joined by good music. Magic!

I went solo travelling around Peru and Bolivia, July and August 2019 and stayed with David in Lima, Pedro and Ernesto in Cusco and Jorge on my way back to Lima. They all contributed so much in making Peruvian culture more familiar and I wouldn't have had such an amazing experience without them hosting me!

I visited a friend in Norway, October 2019, and we stayed with Kristian and his girlfriend Kersti in Stavanger for a night, had some great conversations and a stroll around the city.

Covid-19 marked the majority of 2020 but I still managed to meet up with Abu, a Pakistani that lives in the Netherlands and his two friends Sam and Ashfaq in the city centre of Ljubljana, Jose Sanga, a Spaniard, with his lovely labrador and went hiking up Šmarna gora with Nicolas, a French lad, hitchiking from Turkey back to France.

During my short wait for my Flixbus in Verona after an August 2020 Dolomite trip (Bolzano, Fiè allo Sciliar) I met up with Francesco, originally from Puglia, living in Verona and we tool a lovely stroll around the city.

With vaccination being available I decided to trek Camino de Santiago de Compostela in July of 2021(Porto to SdC, SdC to Finosterre). I stayed with Juan the first night in Porto, he is a great entrepeneurial Ecuadorian and we attended a Selena hostel/hotel/coworking space meetup the night I arrived. I stayed with Pedro, a Portuguese film maker the next night and then started my Camino.
