À propos de moi
ABOUT ME
I'd consider myself as very open-minded, helpful and glad to be a good host to anyone. I like to meet interesting people and to party with them. I also like hiking, soccer, snowboarding and sports in general. I cook often at home so no worries about food when visiting me.
PHILOSOPHY
You shouldn't take yourself too seriously. It's life, so enjoy and let other people enjoy life too!
Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing
I have hosted travellers from various countries, at least 30 times in the last 3 years, in St. Gallen as well as in Sion. Most experiences were great or at least good. Couchsurfers are usually positive, open-minded, grateful and respectful. But sincerely, who wouldn’t be like that when having the chance to get an overnight stay including tourist guide for free…
And then, in November 2015, I tried it out myself for the first time. I planned a two-week trip to Italy and already weeks in advance I contacted couchsurfers in that region if they could host me for one or two nights. The result was devastating and discouraging: only two responses (out of at least 20 requests), both negative. One “host” dared even to tell me that he would rent me out a room instead of giving it for free. When I checked the feedbacks on his profile again, I realised that they were all from girls. So it became quite obvious to me, what this guy is up to…
I write down all this because I want to share this experience, which does absolutely not comply with the couchsurfing-spirit, with all my future CS-guests. I’m not thinking of leaving the CS community, but I will from this day on only accept couchsurfers who have done something altruistic in their lives. Doesn’t need to be a big thing, just something that shows that you’re willing to contribute to society without getting something in return. I have, as an example, worked twice (for two weeks each time) for farmers in the Swiss Alps during my vacation. This without getting paid and sacrificing half of my yearly vacation.
So, when requesting me for a couch, tell me your story. What have you done to contribute to society..?

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue
The GR20 hike in Korsika in 2014. Thirteen days of hiking, camping outside and having a great time on the "hardest hike of Europe".
Moving to the French speaking part of Switzerland without knowing anyone, and creating a new social circle... wasn't alway easy, but I learned a lot about myself.
