ABOUT ME

I am a young woman who spent 4 months in Europe in 2006. Since then, I have wanted to go back. I am currently living in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, England for a year. I am working as an au pair for a family and I have been offered a place of residency within the family home.

I am college educated and currently working on my university degree. I decided to come to Europe for a year before I settle into a career back in Canada.

I am outgoing and energetic and I love trying and learning new things. I am athletic and I love the outdoors. I am hoping to experience all that the UK has to offer.

I first came across this quote many years ago and it has always stuck in mind. Anytime I am feeling down, I remember to look skyward. Life is what you make it so make it count.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

As I am spending a year abroad, I am hoping to do some traveling throughout Europe. During my travels, I wish to have a place to stay and to meet new people who can introduce me to new cultures, etc. Upon my arrival back to Canada, I will certainly open up my doors to those requesting a place to stay to return the favour. As of now however, I cannot provide for any travelers since I am currently living with another family but I will repay the service. I believe that this is an incredible opportunity and much needed among travelers and I am more than willing to help out once I am back in Canada.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Hogmanay 2008 in Edinburgh. Absolutely wonderful! My host, Vas was incredibly accomodating and I met so many people from all over the world. I loved the feeling of belonging to such a group of worldly wanderers. I will never forget my experience!

Interests

Traveling is obviously a very large part of my life and I wish to see many places before my time is up. I enjoy new people, cultures, sites and particularily history. Sports and the outdoors are also a large part of my life. I enjoy most team sports and I'm also an avid scuba diver, rugby player and runner. I have an interest in sky diving however, have never yet jumped.I am usually up for anything and will try almost anything once.

Music, Movies, and Books

I really like country music (new and old) as well as 70's/80's rock-what I grew up with. I enjoy dancing so anything with a good beat is sure to stick in my head.

I love to read-I am into historical, non-ficition novels but I also enjoy some classics, such as Hemmingway. The occasional mind candy-generally thrillers are a favourite.

As for movies, I don't follow the entertainment scen very much and generally watch movies only if someone else suggests it or invites me.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Saying good bye to everyone I know and leaving for another continent on my own. Nothing tests a person's character more than removing oneself from everything familiar and comforting.
