A happy mother of 4 with a loving husband living in Hickory,NC. We are generally very available to host those in need of a place to stay.

PHILOSOPHY

Be the best you can be and others will too. We are a kid focused family...do you have a choice with 4 kids??? Most of our activities revolve around spending time with the kids...sports, gymnastics, dance, art.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We want to meet, host and visit as many world friends as possible. We are very open to hosting as many people as possible, even though Hickory is not a top world attraction. Near the mountains and located close to lots of great furniture stores. We can show you around town, meet for coffee, or just be a place to stay a while.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We have hosted many nice people and have surfed numerous times. This has been a tremendous joy in our lives...from a great Indie band from Iowa to our couple friends from Australia traveling around the world. What a great experience to have the opportunity to meet so many people from all over the world.

We have also had the fortune to spend time with families in and around North Carolina, Barcelona, London, Milwaukee, Chicago, Georgia, Washington,DC and many other great places.

Interests

Sewing, Tennis, Rafael Nadal is my fave, TV, movies. Kevin really likes being outdoors in the yard. Playing with the kids and family activities.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love entertainment and movies. It is my escape from my day to day activities. Growing up we watched black and white tv (4" color for special occasions), so I have a lot of catching up to do. I like all types of movies, especially classics, which I watched with my dad growing up. I just joined a local film society and enjoy romantic comedies, action, drama, Indie films,and documentaries...not too interested in horror.
We are a family who enjoys racket sports such as tennis, pickleball, and table tennis. Natalie plays league tennis with Hickory City Park. Kevin enjoys playing pickleball as much as possible.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have been to the southern part of Spain, and the people and culture are amazing. I loved the family focused society and openness of the people.

I also grew up in an atypical type of home. We built our own house and lived my entire life without electricity. Also lived for six years without running water and then another eight years without hot water. Spent many many years without a refrigerator and always had to make a fire if you wanted to be warm. My childhood chores included splitting and stacking wood, hauling water in jugs from the neighbor hose, and dumping excess water out of the ice chest. Good times... I certainly know what I can live without. It was a great way to grow up.
