Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've been on couch surfing for some years but haven't been able to be a guest or host until now. I am heading on an adventure starting in the UK in March and heading across the European continent - Bulgaria being the most eastern destination in August. Given this is little time to cross the continent and visit many countries I plan to visit only a few countries before Bulgaria, with the intention to spend more time after August. I hope couch surfing will provide a great opportunity to meet open minded and interesting people along my travels, and hopefully will be a good way to gain some insight to the lives of the locals.

Update : My European trip appears as though it may be a little disjointed though - I'm going to spend a month in NY around March / April to visit some great friends, and a trip to California in November for a friends wedding. I'm really excited for these trips although it's a shame things are panning out relatively inefficiently!

Other than these jaunts I hope to travel progressively and with the fewest number of flights as possible.

Interests

I'm always on current affairs in NZ and around the world, I love cameras and photography (while my skills are not particularly perfected I can't wait to develop this further), cars / motorbikes / bicycles, technology and electronics, boating / swimming, tramping, exploring new places and meeting new people. I'm social and love a good house party, and while I'm not a party animal I enjoy exploring a city's nightlife. I really enjoy camping and the outdoors and recently have started tramping (but am yet to do more than 4 nights. I love animals too and hope to visit some farms on my travels. I'm passionate about travel and cannot wait to experience a more thorough and slow journey rather than my previously crammed packed and time restricted adventures. While I am not musicial in any way, shape or form, music is an important part of my life.
