ABOUT ME

I love to travel and I love playing music. I have performed live in Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, New Zealand, London, Amsterdam, Brugge, Germany, Czech republic, Switzerland, France, Spain, Basque and Portugal. www.hannahhowes.com.
I enjoy a quiet game of cards and having a laugh with new friends and old ones. I love wandering the back streets of cities and towns discovering the real life and charm of a place. I also love the far flung island lifestyle. I have worked in a University for four years in fashion, have run my own retail business in fashion design and now focus on music and Graphic Design. I like the idea of meeting couch surfers who can take me to great eateries, a good local festival, have a jam or just chill and ignore me! I promise to be respectful and quiet and not too scary. I usually travel with either my boyfriend, Jeff or with my band member, Ben. I joined Couch Surfing at the recommendation of Ben and we were accommodated by David in Brugge and the lovely Patrick in Bern. I had my first wonderful couch surf experience in Tokyo (on tour in May) with Jim and Heath and Jackie the dog!I recently travelled alone by car for a few months help-xing and writing a new series of songs and played a few shows around Spain, Portugal and France, with a detour to Morocco, filling in the gaps where possible with couch surfing. I am very independent, quiet and helpful and will respect you and your space. I also get on with children, animals and eccentrics, in no particular order!I travelled in India for two months, lived in London for a year and now am living back in New Zealand.

PHILOSOPHY

I like spiritual places like temples in Kyoto, Cap de Creus in Spain and the seaside of New Zealand. I believe in a greater entity in the world and love feeling that connectedness through human and nature connection. I also love bright lights in big cities, fine food...

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My first experience in Tokyo was fantastic! Thanks Heath, Jim and Jackie! Followed by David in Brugge (beautiful town!) and Patrick in Bern (amazing host!) and Laure in Alicante, Katinka in Berlin. Every experience has been invaluable. We hosted a few times in London as well.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've been consumed by the fiery breath of Mt Yasur (Vanuatu), played at major NZ festivals including Soundsplash, Parihaka International Peace Festival and Kaikoura Roots Festival and in Japan, walked 10 hours to Jomonsugi (Princess Mononokis homeland) the oldest Cedar in the world, I've been at the birth of a few babies- that is pretty amazing! I also loved seeing the Proboscis monkeys at Bako National Park, Sarawak, where I also got an Eban style tattoo. I love Spain. Its my new favourite place in Europe.

I can share music!!! I can cook! I can share stories of where I have traveled! I think I could have been a travel agent as I really get to the nitty gritty and try to encompass every special thing when I travel to a place. I research.

I can also help with sewing knowledge, fine arts and I have good gardening knowledge too.
