Über mich

CURRENT MISSION

Started the world trip from San Francisco in December 07 and returned in February 09. After 5 years break, I was ready for some adventure again to visit the World Cup in Brazil, but... I had to cancel it and lost the mission... So bummed out now...

ABOUT ME

I’m Japanese who grew up in all over Japan till I was 15 years old, then lived in Switzerland for 3 years, traveled around Europe during the time, and now lives in the U.S. for over 20 years. (Florida and California.) My life has always been meeting with new people. I really enjoy talking to people who are especially down to earth and honest. It makes my day when I learn something about your culture, life, and place.

Things I like are art, sports, and nature. I'm very liberal and open minded.

In December 2007, I’ve decided to take a year off and set a goal of traveling around the globe. I finished it in February ’09. I started out with Asia, Oceania, and Europe, and then onto Beijing, China when it had the Olympic there. Then onto east coast of the US and west coast of US. Back to Japan then back to San Francisco. That was one of the greatest memories of my life so far and I’m jealous of the energy that I once possessed. LOL. (The photos above are from the trip. I've gained some weight since then. Please put some fat around the face and belly and that's me right now. ;) I'll be 40 years old at the end of this month! Yes, I'm still young!)

Another set of a goal during that trip I made was to visit the major tournaments in tennis such as Australian Open, Roland Garros, Wimbledon, and the US Open in one same year. I play tennis pretty hard and visiting these 4 tournaments had become the back bone theme of my trip. I couldn't visit Rolland Garros in the end, but going to the rest was pretty exciting.

Since I'm back to San Francisco in 2009, I’ve married to my wife who I met during this trip. Pretty significant, right? But, the story continues.

She has a pretty severe illness that has no cure anywhere in the world yet. The six years we’ve been together so far has definitely taught me many things. What it comes down to is that it is so important to relax and live your life with balance even if you think there is no balance. Life is not often easy for her or everyone. My life-long mission is to help and protect her and use my open-mind personality and strong will to fight against the illness with and for her. After all, we all need to enjoy life whenever it's possible.

Anyway, I thought it might be time for me to get recharged by visiting the World Cup in Brazil! I was planning everything: getting a flight ticket, getting some good responses back from the Brazilian couch surfers and securing their hosting offers one by one (You guys rock!!), and I was feeling super excited about this once in a life time experience, BUT... I had to cancel the whole trip because some issue came up three days before my departure... I'm so shocked, bummed out, and filled with sadness...

One day later, still bummed out about the whole thing, but I had to switch the gear gradually.

I may not see the World Cup in Brazil live, but Brazil won't disappear. And I found great people there who are so generous to host others during the time of such a crazy event like the World Cup when everything gets so expensive and people usually have to pay an unbelievable and ridiculous amount of money for lodging, but they just care for having a good interaction with one another even you don't know each other well yet. I acknowledged that Couch Surf would work again and there are great people on this site.

I believe in this system and hope I have an opportunity to visit Brazil one day in my life and other beautiful places on the planet. Until then, I'll stay hopeful!!!

If you need someone to show around San Francisco and can't find anyone, hit me up! If the timing works out, I'll take you around the beautiful city of San Francisco and maybe all of the cool places that are not on a travel guide book.

Cheers!

PHILOSOPHY

There is nothing to regret.
There are a lot more to see in life.
Life has many possibilities.
Believe in oneself and it'll be alright.
Live honestly and people will do the same to you.
Eat gooooood and relax!
