About Me

I love travel, as I'm sure most of you do. I'm a musician, a voracious reader, and average writer. I like meeting new people, and I love being out of doors whenever possible.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Various reasons. I'm trying to get my Wilderness First Responder Certification right now, and the hotel bill could be outrageous if I go that route, and it's remarkably difficult to find tent sites near the learning sites.

Interests

I play music. I like literature, philosophy, and poetry. I love good conversation. All sort of covered in the "About Me" section I suppose. haha Thought: Does a list of one's interests and appreciations adequately summarize that person? I think probably not, but I figure people are too complicated to be adequately summarized with any combination of words...

Music, Movies, and Books

Oof. Where to begin? Just read "Wild". It made me reeeeally want to hike the PCT. I like Herman Hesse, Walt Whitman, Bill Bryson. Rilke's "Letters to a Young Poet" is one of my favorite books. Movies: I like the Coen Bros., e.g. "O Brother Where Art Thou", "A Serious Man". I like musicals, even ones that could be viewed as a bit tacky. I like "Moulin Rouge", "Les Mis", "Singing in the Rain", etc. I like all kinds of music, but here are some that pop into my head as I write: Andrew Bird, John Coltrane, Leonard Cohen, Milk Carton Kids, Queen, The Beatles, Al Green, Regina Spektor.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hiked 60 miles in 4 days. Started slow, ended up doing over 19 that last day. It was rough but rewarding.

Teach, Learn, Share

Yes?

What I Can Share with Hosts

Music: I have a small guitar and bring it with me everywhere. I can also bring silence if you would prefer. haha Good conversation perhaps. I have collected a few good stories here and there on the road.
