About Me

ABOUT ME:

Hello, my name is Hermes. I was born in Maracay, Venezuela and moved to Florida when I was four. I was raised in Miami and later moved to Orlando for university where I currently work and live.

I am an extrovert. I love meeting new people no matter where I go, whether it's the grocery store or another continent. I am always the person who strikes up a conversation no matter what kind of setting I'm in. I enjoy learning about other people, the things their into, the music they like like, their culture, ideas and philosophies. I am a traveler, so couchsurfing is the perfect mix of traveling and getting to know other from all around the world. I am here to make friends for life!

I love traveling, if I don't travel for more than a year I begin to get really bad wanderlust. In 2013 after finishing school and finding a job I took a vacation to Europe. There I visited 12 countries with a Contiki tour group and it was one of the most memorable times of my life. In 2014 I took the plunge and traveled to Brazil for he World Cup. I attended two games USA vs Ghana and Colombia vs Greece. Once again, I had taken traveling to a new level. This year I will be traveling to China and Japan and will be traveling alone. This will be my first time in Asia and I look forward to all of the great people I will meet.

PHILOSOPHY

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

So far there have been two extremely astonishing things that I have been able to witness. The first one is the Grand Canyon. It has been one of the greatest experiences of my life. I never imagine that such a place could exist on this planet until I saw it with my own two eyes. I could sit and stare for hours maybe days and not get bored. I definitely recommend it to all those travelers who love nature.

The second are the coral reefs of Chichirivichi. For those of you who don't know Chichirivichi is a beach that is located on the northwest corner of Venezuela. It is a series of islands that are around 10 minutes apart from each other on boat. I remember having my mask on and putting my head inside the water for the first time. It was unlike anything that I have ever seen before. Every possible color you can think of lied beneath the water, animals that I never even knew existed were swimming right next to me. I know that I will return one day for sure.

These are just two amazing things I've been able to do, there is more, but these two take the cake. One day I'll add more to this list.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am a very good conversationalist and I enjoy learning from others as well as teaching. Here are couple things I can teach:

- Playing Guitar (Music Theory)
- Spanish
- Cooking
- Dancing Salsa! (I'm pretty good at it!)
