About Me

I'm an epidemiologist and parasitologist at the Federal Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology. I work in the prevention of infectious diseases and advise patients.
I'm unpretentious and unobtrusive, but can support the conversation if necessary.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm interested to know how different people can be. I like to break down national stereotypes as well as to confirm them. I like to learn about countries and people and make up my own opinions about them so I can share them with those who have only seen them on TV.

Interests

For the last ten years I have not been leaving home without my bike.
Every spring me and my friends are going on a river rafting trip and every summer on a mountain hike. Here are some videos from these trips: https://www.youtube.com/user/RabotnikSna.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love live music the most. From guitar nights with friends to huge world rock legends shows. I enjoyed listening to bagpipers at Buckingham Palace, musicians in the streets and bars of Barcelona, Phuket, and San Francisco, jazz at Balboa Park in San Diego, and a casual concert at a train station near Hanover during my travels. I've heard Deep Purple, Roger Waters and Iron Maiden live. I've played bluegrass in California with some great guys who taught me to play the banjo signed by Bill Monroe.

I love prose of Daniel Harms and folk tales in their original form. Now I read mostly medical and popular science articles.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Four-day incessant rain in the Altai mountains and further climbing the Urusvati pass.
Hitchhiking from the Urals to China and back through Baikal and Altai in 34 days without a single quarrel with my partner.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can provide you some medical advice, or tell about current epidemiological situation.
We can explore some local caves or even make a rafting trip for several days, if you come to my City at right time.
And we can have a language practice and share our travel experiences of course.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can wash dishes with pleasure. Cope well with cats and computers. Also I can provide you free medical advice particularly on disease prevention.
