ABOUT ME

I'm an entrepreneur. I'm fairly anti-government, but right now I'm living on a military base in Iraq selling internet access to the military, soldiers, contractors, etc. Which is particularly ironic since I was/am against the war.

I've lived all around the world, and I enjoy traveling, and learning how local people live.

I am pretty laid back, but do have a few addictions: diet coke, internet access, and showering daily.

PHILOSOPHY

I like it when things are voluntary, vs. compelled. I usually find that the real difference between enjoying something and not enjoying it is usually whether I am doing it voluntarily, so I like to give other people the choice too. Which is also why I am so ardently defensive of my rights, and those of others -- I hate being compelled to do things.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've lived in weird places often and mostly couchsurfed when on vacation back in the US/UK/NL. I actually spent 6 months of the year, 3 years in a row, couchsurfing.

Music, Movies, and Books

I usually end up reading science articles, books, or biographies. I also like sci-fi when it remains plausible, but not really fantasy, mass-market fiction, etc. I also like reading about other cultures, and biographies of interesting people.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I lived in a self-declaredly sovereign platform in the North Sea for 3 years running an Internet provider.
