About Me
CURRENT MISSION
These are the voyages of the of Dominick's backpack. Its five-year mission: to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no man has gone before.
ABOUT ME
I have a ton of interests and not enough time to follow them all. I am a software engineer by profession which has me travelling frequently to Italy as I work for an Italian company. I enjoy learning other languages even though I have only reached a competent level in a few of them. I love eating food that I have never tasted before, I find the discovery of new tastes very fun. I am able to talk about pretty much anything, it is almost impossible to offend me or make me angry, and I have a very broad sense of humor. I am also married and I have a young son whom I adore and am trying to raise bilingual in English/Italian.
PHILOSOPHY
My personal philosophy is to accomplish as much as humanly possible while I am on this earth. Rather than a list of "things to see / experience before I die", I have a list of "skills to learn / feats to accomplish" before I die. I find learning new skills extremely fun and satisfying. But of course I still make time to relax and socialize with new friends; often they introduce me to new interesting skills to add to my list!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Due to the traveling nature of my job. I spend most of my time traveling; however I do open my home when available to people visiting Milwaukee and want to experience midwestern American culture.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
So far its been very positive, although I admit I have not taken much advantage of couchsurfing as of yet, that may change.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I have been on every ride that currently exists in Walt Disney World Florida, many of them multiple times. I rode the newly remodeled Star Tours 9 times!
La Pizza panna e speck, so delicious! Who knew cream on a pizza would taste so good?
Most recently, I got to participate in a murder mystery dinner with my new friends on the roof of an Italian castle while eating a delicious meal.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can solve a Rubik's cube in about a minute, I can teach anyone how to solve it in about 15 minutes.
I have a keen grasp of wilderness survival and camping skills.
I am a professional programmer, and an amateur circuit designer, and a terrible solderer.
I love Judo (as well as jujitsu) and am always looking for clubs to practice at while traveling.
I love exchanging techniques for learning foreign languages. I have successfully learned at least one foreign language to fluency as an adult, and while I can't claim I use the most efficient methods, I have an array of techniques that guarantee that I enjoy myself while learning the language and that I can get to fluency in most languages within a reasonable time span (2 - 4 years.)
I know three different ways to whistle.
I am skilled in first aid.
Teach me how to cook your favorite food!
Do you have another skill you think I would find useful? I'd love for you to teach it to me.
