About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To be self-sustainable in my inter-connectedness, adapting to changing world, maintaining healthy relationships, enjoying a variety of experiences, moving closer to truth.

ABOUT ME

Actively allowing a more coherent idea of my self in the world to manifest, a drop in alignment with the currents of the ocean. Wandering in the world, exploring the varieties of human experience. Piqued interest in sustainable living and mystical insights, in all the the forms they take.

PHILOSOPHY

A distillation of what I've already said: Living, Learning. Contentment, Self-Inquiry, Effort, Good Company.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've very rarely actually had a couch to offer to anyone... I've almost always been traveling, and usually have a living situation that doesn't lend itself to providing space for anyone (e.g. living in a hostel, an ashram, a retreat center, etc.). SO, whenever possible, I like to host people in whatever manner available, or at least have tea/coffee/beer and introduce someone to the area!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Amazing synchronicities in New Zealand involving a beekeeper of Manuka honey, the transport of a 1 ton chunk of jade, sitting in family hotsprings, and a backpackers' cabins with unlimited beer.

A distinguished and generous gentleman in Anchorage: a massage chair, yoga class, whisky tasting, and feeding an urban reindeer. Seriously.

Raucous times in Ireland. No need for details...

Fantastic time of tasty tapas, morroccan mint tea, and parcheesi in Morrocco.

Fun and Frolicking in Lawrence, etc, etc

Interests

Kind of did already... but in single words: [the mind], neuroscience, philosophy, spirituality, mysticism, herbs, yoga, world changes, social issues, music, art, food, new experiences, knowing myself, knowing other people, cycling (not competitively), foosball, swimming, ping pong, mancala, (playing games in general), watching movies (but not being consumed by TV), long meandering walks, and so on . . .

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Sitting on a dock in a remote part of Alaska in the middle of the night, full moon shining down reflecting off the water at an inlet to a river as I'm filling up the water tank on a boat I was working on. While everyone else was busy working, I saw a group of about 30 beluga whales float by like ghosts, following the salmon upstream.

Teach, Learn, Share

I HAVE VARYING EXTENTS OF KNOWLEDGE ABOUT: Nutrition (esp. Ayurveda), herbs and making herbal teas, Permaculture/Ecological Design, Yoga, Neuroscience, consciousness research, theories of everything, making roses out of bar napkins, designing a labyrinth, cooking, meditation.

I WOULD LIKE TO LEARN: How to do more dances (and do the worm), improve German or learn Spanish, drive a stick, sustainable living (e.g. permaculture), more spiritual practice (e.g. Kundalini Yoga), how to fix a car, to recognize more edible plants, etc.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Cooking, cleaning, banter.
