About Me
When I was young, I used to browse National Geographic magazines and dreamt of seeing the world. In 2010, I decided to work towards making that dream a reality. In November of 2015, I quit my job as an IT Systems Engineer, and sold just about everything I owned. And in January 2016, I boarded a train with a backpack on my back and a desire that's been brewing for 35 years.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Growing up near Lake Tahoe, I used to laugh when people would win a trip to "Scenic Lake Tahoe" on game shows and wondered what their experiences would be like. Would they really see the beauty like we saw it? When we are strapped for time and have jobs to get back to, and only a week to experience a location, you tend to live out of hotels and try food at places that social media says you should try based on the number of stars for that restaurant. Pre-packaged experiences can often make sense. When you have the opportunity to slow down, these things no longer make sense. You want to meet the people, you want to try the foods they enjoy, you want to visit the places they find inspiring. So, what is your little corner of the world like?
I have to admit that I’ve struggled with Couchsurfing. I’ve met and hung out with quite a few people but the timing just never seems right for hosting or being hosted. I tend to travel without a plan and rarely know what tomorrow will bring. I hope things work out in the future with CS because it’s a fantastic option.
Interests
I'm a lover of art, music, movies, and the general beauty and chaos of life. Ive also been on a heavy journey reading many great books and learning more about our world from a scientific, philosophical, economical, political, and cultural perspective. I LOVE a good conversation. And live music! It’s one thing I miss about being home. And of course the food! I’ll try anything, especially if it’s home cooked!

Music, Movies, and Books
Huge fan of music: from TOOL, Bad Religion, NIN to Decemberists, The Shins, Death Cab. So many bands.
Favorite movies: The Matrix, LOTR, Star Wars, Marvel MCU, and weird stuff like The Jacket, Memento, Eternal Sunshine.
Favorite Books: The Wheel of Time, Shantaram, Name of the Wind, Wool/Shift/Dust.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I once built a 300 foot long pier in the desert because nobody else would, and then went back and built a half-sunken pirate ship in the desert because it seemed impossibly possible.
Teach, Learn, Share
If there's IT work that needs tending to, I can definitely help. Outside of that, I'm lookiIng to expand my horizons into things a little more.... tangible.
I'd love to learn or learn more of the following:
Yoga
Organic Gardening
Permaculture
Cooking
Holistic Medicine
Healing Arts
Making Hot Sauce
What I Can Share with Hosts
