About Me

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY.

***Although my couch is open to surfers, please note that this is not just a free hotel stay. If you are looking for just a place to crash and to take a shower, this is NOT it. I am actively looking for CS'ers who will interact, cook, hang out, etc with me and my roommates. Also, we are only able to host ONE person***
- If you rather just meet up for drinks, I usually host the Thursday East Bay meetup, alternating between Oakland and Berkeley.

CURRENT MISSION
After living a nomadic lifestyle from Oct 2014 to Aug 2018 traveling through Central and South America, I am happy to be back in the Bay. I've made it my goal to host events, connect with new friends and explore as much as possible. My couch is currently open for travelers under a very specific set of rules, please make sure you read thoroughly; Limitations include keywords, length of stay, location in the Bay Area and the logistics of your stay. As you can imagine, I get dozens of request per week and I will be sorted them out based on that first message including all of the requirements.

ABOUT ME

Born in Colombia, grew up in North America. I became a hybrid of two very different worlds. After living in Southern California, I moved to Calgary, Canada for a few years. I traveled through Central and South America for 3 years. I now live in Berkeley, California.

I love meeting new people, making new friends and being social. I enjoy hiking, reading, listening to stories about other countries, biking, surfing, hearing other languages and cooking. I'd like to know YOUR story!

I love teaching people what I know and learning new things from them, everyone always has something to share, we just have to be willing to listen.

Different people from different countries will always have something to share. Soon enough you will be making friends from all over the world and you will know a little bit about a lot of things.

PHILOSOPHY

"My favorite thing is going where I've never been."

"Happiness is only real when shared."

"...There is a pleasure in the pathless woods,
There is a rapture on the lonely shore,
There is society, where none intrudes,
By the deep Sea, and music in its roar:
I love not Man the less, but Nature more.."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I started my Couchsurfing experience while living in Calgary, Canada. I was not able to host anyone but I was part of their weekly meetups and events. It was clear to me then as it is now, that I had found something that interested me very much.

I try to be as welcoming as possible, showing people the city where I live or taking them out for a drink. Showing them all the spots I've come to know. Especially in San Francisco, a city that caught my heart and has never let go.

I've now hosted CSers in Colombia, Canada, and the US. Looking to expand that as much as possible. It has not only showed me many different cultures but also has fueled my desire to travel. The best way to know a location, through the eyes of a local. I have attended events in over 10 countries.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I think this is one of the best websites I've had a chance to click on. It allows for a close human contact, unlike most of the other stuff you find online. It allows for strangers to become friends in distant lands.

I've met some of the most amazing people through this website. Some whom I met many years ago and I can still call good friends.
