About Me

ABOUT ME

I have a wide variety of friends and interests. I am a type A personality professionally and layed back in my personal life. Adaptable and at home in any social situation.

PHILOSOPHY

Relax, listen, do as little harm as possible. It is a difficult goal, considering life on this planet has been though ice ages, super volcanoes, hit's by comets and now us, an insatiable life form that has managed to invade not only every corner of the surface of the planet but the sky and oceans, party on!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I wander around North America on my motorcycle. While I have been able to manage to meet fellow surfers for a drink and motorcycle ride. I have not managed to actually surf while I am on a trip. Frankly I think it is because I sound a little crazy when I explain that I will be leaving at 6am and I should be at their place by 8pm, and they realize that it's a thousand miles.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have had a number of surfers stay at my house.

Interests

Been doing a lot of sailing lately, and riding my motorcycle. Trying to put time and space into perspective. Fascinated with chimeras and outsider art. Member of the Iron Butt Association. Neon, I am an excellent bender.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A friend and I were in the middle of Lake Superior about twenty miles east of Duluth about 3am. The two of us were delivering a large sailboat. The lake was glassy calm but there was a bit of wind 50' or 60' feet up. Enough to keep us ghosting along at a couple of knots but the boat was perfectly still the only sound was a little gurgling from the wake. Lake Superior is quite cold even in the middle of the summer but the land is warm. Over the land, just on shore, both ten or so miles south over Wisconsin and ten or so miles north over Minnesota huge thunderstorms had blown up right where the cold air over the lake meets the warm humid air over the land. But they were stationary not moving onto the lake. We could see right into the sides of the thunderstorms thousants of feet tall and there was an unbelievable lightining show going on. The only thing we could hear was this distant almost constant low rumbling from the thunder and the gurgling. It was surreal.
