Overview
About Me
My name is Adam, and my husband, Nathaniel and I used to be avid Couchsurfers until life (actually no, work!) got in the way. We’re fixing that now :)
My life goals include being on the move, seeing things I’ve never seen before, and meeting people from all walks of life and hearing their stories. I believe in Couchsurfing’s unique ability to help with all three of those goals, bringing people together.
When we were able to host ourselves, we loved being able to show guests around our hometown in Pensacola, Florida. Lots of pics of our earlier CouchSurfing heyday in the photos. Recently, we moved to San Diego, California and lost the ability to host temporarily so we’re finally getting back to surfing ourselves :D
Conversation, games, sharing a meal or cooking together, we’re pretty open to anything. Otherwise, we’d love to invite anyone along for a hike or a drive or a scenic view, maybe even something silly or touristy, anything that get’s me out into the world and fulfilling one of those 3 goals mentioned earlier, and that’s usually why we’re passing through.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
***After our first and ONLY negative experience, we decided to take a small break from Couchsurfing. Also, new rule: NO joint profiles, no exceptions. 3 surfers = 3 profiles, etc. Just have one person send the request, and include the link(s) to any fellow traveller(s)*** Nathaniel's profile is https://www.couchsurfing.com/people/oddrbdy
Our first hosting experience was most unique.
I had only been a member for two days when I was contacted by Helen about hosting her for 3 nights. On the last night of her stay, another CouchSurfer in the area, Alan, had an urgent need, so suddenly I was hosting 2 surfers simultaneously. THEN, torrential record-setting rains flooded all around our city and neighborhood (none on our street, whew!), making it so that the surfers had to stay another night unexpectedly. Let me say, THAT was quite an introduction to CouchSurfing, ha ha.
It ended up being for the best. We got to talk a lot more, shared some great stories, had some intellectual debates, played some board games, etc. We ended that last night with my pal Billy on the guitar, my friend Leslie doing a jig with my roommate at the time Ryan, Helen playing the steel flute, Alan recovering from the shock of holding a tarantula (Dharma, my pet spider) for the first time, and me capturing it all on camera--it was a great first experience.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Swimming with manta rays: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pV3GZmPJLbc
Watching the sunset above the clouds atop Mauna Kea, with fellow CouchSurfers from France, too! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iN7n7X75nLk
Additionally for both of us, skydiving, whitewater rafting, and swimming with stingrays (much, much smaller than manta rays).
Teach, Learn, Share
Nathaniel and I are both certified SCUBA divers (recreational, and by no means experts, ha ha). If you're certified yourself, let's dive together! If you're not certified but know of some good snorkeling spots, we could maybe do that, too.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I work in the fields of personal and professional development. So I’m always up for a conversation about emotional intelligence, personality type theory, goal setting, anything you’ve ever wanted a sounding board for, that sorta thing. I’m a good listener who’s good at brainstorming, ha ha.
