About Me

CURRENT MISSION

ABOUT ME

This vague, it's hard to know what to say. Right now I'm working during the week, but also looking for a new job. I like to have fun and try not to take life too seriously, but not take it too lightly either.

I can be shy at first, but I just need to get to know you and I'll open up. Patience is appreciated!

PHILOSOPHY

I try to stay positive and take problems as they come. However, I do have trouble following this sometimes.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I joined CS awhile ago with grand dreams of surfing everywhere, but so far I have failed. Hopefully this year will be different. I'm waiting to finally host someone! I've always had roommates who were afraid, but I finally have some that are interested.

Interests

I enjoy cooking, gardening, and biking. That makes me sound slightly lame maybe? When it comes to gardening, I really like "urban farming", growing my own food and figuring out ways to cook and preserve it for myself I've just started getting into bread baking and canning. Someday I'd like to learn to brew my own beer, but right now $$ is a little limiting.

Although drinking, going out, and dancing are some of my favorite past times, I never underestimate how much fun it is to just stay inside and have fun with my friends. I love trying new all different kinds of food, as well as beer. My income makes this hard sometimes, but I still love it.

I looooooove living in the city. I also love getting out of it. Most of my vacations are more eco-tourism based, getting out there and hiking, scuba diving, biking, etc. This spring I'll be going to Europe which will be an interesting change. I'm very excited to bike around the Netherlands!

Music, Movies, and Books

Some of my favorite authors are Barbara Kingsolver, Kurt Vonnegut, Chuck Palahniuk. Lately I've been getting into the zombie genre? Maybe. I can't really find anything besides Max Brooks that's any good.

I like movies, but I never really get that into them. Alfred Hitchcock and the Coen brothers. Dumb ROMCOMS can be good when you're feeling down. Stuff that makes you think. Stuff that's so bad it's good.

Seinfeld will always be my favorite TV show of all time, I also like 30 Rock, Arrested Development, The Office, Curb Your Enthusiasm, etc. Pretty much just sitcoms, I could never get into TV dramas.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The first time I went to Costa Rica was pretty amazing. I'd never seen a rainforest before, and it was not the same as seeing it through pictures. Flying above it was great enough, but actually getting off the plane and driving through the mountains while stopping to see monkeys and iguanas on the side of the road really blew that out of the water.

The first and only time I've been scuba diving was another amazing experience. While in Costa Rica I had had the opportunity to work on a turtle conservation project. The next year I went scuba diving in Hawaii, and I loved seeing the turtles both on the beach (CR) and under the water (Hawaii). I can't wait to go scuba diving again!
