My name is Oihan, I'm from the french side of Basque Country, and I'm a musician. I play bass and guitar, mostly rock music (garage, psych, stoner, acid, punk) in various bands, but I also play plenty of music genders, such as reggae, jazz, pop, traditionnal Basque music, etc. I'm also a sound engineer, and I work as music producer, live sound engineer, or film sound operator (mostly documentary films).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When I want to travel, it's to discover new places, new cultures, get out of my confort zone, and share experiences with people.

I hosted many Couchsurfers a few years ago, while I had a nice flat with a couple of friends in Bayonne, and it's been one of the best things that happened in my life. I couldn't travel and see the "world" at that time, so the "world" was coming to me, in my flat, in my couch ! And every time, with every new couchsurfer, it was the beginning of a new story, a new journey, a new friendship.

I can't currently do the "hosting" where I live, but I'd love to experience the "surfing" ! And, actually, I can't imagine travelling without Couchsurfing, staying in hostels or dorms wich all looks alike around the world, landing in countries or cities without spending my time with the people that lives in...

I like to play music, every kind, every instrument, anytime, with anyone. Listen, share, teach, learn, write, record, etc. I like to cook and share a good meal ! And good drinks of course : for me it's more beer, red wine and dry whisky. I like to hike, walk in the mountain, in forests, looking for mushrooms. I like swimming in rivers. I like games, dices, cards, even drinking games why not.

What I Can Share with Hosts

When I was hosting Couchsurfers, I used to make them live my life : I would go hiking with them, cook with them, bring them to the concerts or bars I went to, introduce them to my friends, even my family sometimes.

It's the kind of experience I dream of with CS hosts ! But I also understand and respect the fact that evryone dosen't have the time or the want to do so, and I will enjoy my stay with hosts accordingly !
