About Me

Hey, this is Oisín,
I'm an Irish guy who has spent the past 3 years (-ish) living and working as an English kindergarten teacher in Seoul, South Korea and now that I have a little bit saved up, I'm taking on the world, (usually) one country at a time!

I'm a Sagittarius, (not that I necessarily believe in that sort of stuff) so naturally adventurous. Very musical (been playing the guitar for 13 years and I write a lot of songs too), easy going, and a sense of humour so bad its good!
Down for pretty much anything really, bus mostly just looking for people to hang!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've been staying in hostels for a while now but rarely seem to make friends them, I think CS sounds like a much better place to meet people, make friends and get to know the locals, which is always the most important part of visiting anywhere.

Interests

Traveling and experiencing different cultures.

Music; I love to write, play, record, and listen to music. I also go to a lot of gigs and work at a lot of festivals.

Art; museum stuff, film, performance and ideas.

Sports; Snowboarding, ultimate frisbee, soccer and surfing (like actual surfing, you know in the sea).

Music, Movies, and Books

Too many to name, this is tough!

Music; So many but let's say Rock, Blues, R&B, acoustic (or anything with a guitar), funk, Jazz and everything in between.

Movies; LOTR, Star Wars, Mad Max, Marvel, Into the Wild, The Secret of Kells

Books; The Hunger Games, Ready Player One, Howl's Moving Castle, Starry River of the Sky.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was in college I was the Chairperson of the surf club and was in charge of bringing 20 students over for a week of surfing in Morocco (for two years in a row, 2014&2015) both those experiences were pretty crazy, not just the experience itself but also being in charge and responsible for everybody.

Also living in South Korea for 2 and a half years was pretty amazing.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach English to non-native speakers (almost 3 years teaching experience in South Korea)
I can teach guitar (provided one of us has one)
I'm a relatively decent story-teller, with the right inspiration

I can cook, though you might not like my food, so maybe let me do the boring chores (chopping vegetables, washing dishes, sweeping floors, sedating the monsters that live under the bed)

What I Can Share with Hosts

Storytelling; I know a lot of Irish folklore,
Music; I may not have a guitar but if I or you do then I have a lot of original songs I can perform
Cooking;.......Sort of,
Cleaning; if needed
Humour and craic and raconteuring of my adventures and travels
God-awful puns

I can also pretend to be a ghost-ghost...you know the type of ghost that scares other ghosts away...just in case you have ghosts
