ABOUT ME

I started my studies at university quite late and have gotten used to being the oldest kid in class. A thirty-year-old kid, that's what I am and I think I'll leave it at that. My friends are having babies and mortgages on houses, but I'm happy to be free from responsibilities for anything other than myself. I want to make the most of this freedom while I can. I'll get a proper job someday, but I'm in no rush. Right now I'm all about learning things, gaining new experiences. I enjoy learning foreign languages and meeting people from cultures other than mine. So now I am taking a year off from my regular studies to learn french. My greatest worry at the moment is that I might be stressing too much about my education, spending all of my time on achieving certain goals instead of hanging out with my friends. I have a hunch that some future wisdom of old age will tell me that the proper way to spend a lifetime is to just hang out with people. So I think I'll do that now. Hang out. I don't know if this makes any sense. It said to write all about me, so I gave it shot. PS: Norwegians aren't as cold and difficult to get to know as you might think ;)

PHILOSOPHY

You're born and then you die. In between those two events theres a short timespan that you can spend however you like. I'm simply trying to make mine as meaningful and enjoyable as possible.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I don't have a couch to offer at the moment. I'll be moving to Montpellier, France in august and I haven't found a home yet. For the moment I am looking for a place to stay, and will open up my own couch when I have one.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have still not hosted, and I am looking for my first couch. I'll post something when I know. I'm sure it will be nice :)

Interesses

I always spend quite alot of time on my studies. Apart from that I go salsa-dancing every now and again. The sad thing is that during the last year it seems that I've forgotten almost all the fancy moves. It's like losing the vocabulary of a language you don't practice often. I need to exercise regularly. I enjoy learning languages, and I hope to have some language-project going for as long as I live. I'm part of a group of friends. Most of us have known each other for more than twenty years. They are really important to me, and I really enjoy spending time with them.

Músicas, Filmes e Livros

I don't watch as many movies as I used to, but I have Star Wars patches on my jacket :) I love a good documentary, be it about almost anything (check out www.topdocumentaryfilms.com). I listen to music of all sorts almost all the time. I'm a heavy consumer of in-ear headphones. The wire always breaks next to the plug.
Regarding litterature I'm into Gabriel Garcia Marquéz. I'm reading One Hundred Years of Solitude for the second time now. On top of that I tend to pick up biology books outside of the curriculum. Generally, there are too many books and too little time.

Uma Coisa Incrível que Eu Fiz

I know it doesn't sound very special, but once I spent about half an hour following a pod of orcas up close with a boat. At one point a huge male, about as big as they come, was next to the boat. He was far enough below so that I could see all of him in all his might and glory. That is without a doubt the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. Another thing is the aurora. They are normal around here. But one ordinary autumn evening I was out walking with some friends and we saw the most amazing one ever. It was like a huge, round thing, emmanating from the center of the sky out towards the edges in wavy beams of red, white and green. We just lay there in the grass, gazing.

Ensine, Aprenda, Compartilhe

I guess I can teach some basic salsa moves. And perhaps how to play the charango, even though I don't really know myself. I might also be helpful with questions about biology-related stuff. Myself, I want to learn french right now. But I also enjoy any kind of exchange with any culture. Like when my french friends were telling me about extremely detailed things from the depths of french culture.
