About Me
PLEASE NOTE: Couchsurfing references/reviews from 2017 and 2018 are on Chelsy's (former partner) profile where I went by my full name 'Nicholas' https://www.couchsurfing.com/people/chelsy-h
Hello! I am Olas.
I am presently exploring the earth as a nomadic traveler. A few years ago (Dec 2016), I retired from the professional phase of life, having worked many years as an attorney. Since then, my time and effort is spent exploring myself and my relationship with the world and other humans without the constraints of traditional life.
I spend time adventure traveling, nesting, housesitting, couchsurfing, living in community homes and intentional communities, along with healthy stretches in nature and the living world. I generally seek my “tribe” wherever I go….and that usually involves dancing, singing, laughing, story-telling, eating/preparing healthy food, and building loving authentic community along the way.
In April 2019, I bought an outfitted sprinter van while visiting and helping my mom through some life transitions in Colorado. I enjoyed a few seasons of solo time exploring/traveling/glamping van life in the Rocky Mountains, gradually meandering towards the West Coast.
I planted in Eugene, Oregon in October 2019--and spent a season living amongst a house of healers, helping co-create an intentional expressive space called "Dancing with the Divine Dragon." It is best described (though really can only be experienced) as a temple for improvisational expression through deep listening to self and group harmonization of sound, movement, contact, instrument playing, and re-animaling. A transformational healing space for attuning to self/others, dramatic ego dissolution, and ecstatic expression. It was an amazing co-creation and was building so much momentum in Eugene and Ashland....
...BUT THEN....COVID lockdown hit the area in March 2020, while I was at Breitenbush--and life has changed into a quieter mode of observation, self-care, and nature time from my quarantine machine/sprinter van. This is an incredible time to be alive, cooperate, co-exist, and hold space for others thru these transformative changes together.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
For the chance to connect with amazing persons and community everywhere....the more aspects of community (and by extension family, and by extension relationships) that we can share without economic incentive/barriers, the better the world. I am not here for the free couches, but more so to genuinely engage, hold space, and share space with open-hearted people. If you are opening up your home for me, that's the least I can do.
