About Me

Hello mates!

Happiness just is and when it is not put on your boots and move on until you find it. I am working and living. I started the couch surfing experience and randomly meeting strange people with two earlier organizations: servas and hospitality club. The home exchange sounds good too, but I have no experiences to share so far. Mostly I have lived my life like an nomad. A member of a people having no permanent abode and who travel from place to place to find fresh pasture for their livestock. I like gardens, beaches, forest, laying in my hammock, listening radio and I like chill out a lot.

I have been on the road for the last 24 years almost non-stop and countries visited so far roughly 100. Let's see what kind of cool adventure the universe will give me next. In my free time I do sport, sit in the sauna, drink coffee, listen music, meet up my friends, play with my daughter when she is around, plant trees and flowers, jog and trek. I am active, you know. People say that they don´t make plan B or C, but I have also D and E. I see my life as a beautiful dream, full of beautiful people and places to see.

I am currently living in Lapland at Kuusamo, North of Finland. Here is some additional information for you from this unique area.

In winter time
Visit the ski resort Ruka. It has cross country tracks, snowmobiling routes and a great variety of guided winter activities.

In summer time
Head to the magnificent nature of Kuusamo. Example national parks of Oulanka, Riisitunturi, Syöte, Pyhä and Paanajärvi, Karhunkierros hiking trail, Kitka and Oulanka rivers, steep hills and numerous lakes with lots of fish.

Finland's unspoilt forests and thousands of islands and lakes offer plenty of opportunities for visitors to enjoy beautiful natural surroundings. Hikers and cross-country skiers can roam the endless forests and wide-open northern fells, while the lakes and rivers of central and eastern Finland are ideal for canoeists, and the labyrinthine archipelagos of the Baltic are a sailor's paradise.

People from all nationalities have the right to enjoy the Finnish countryside freely under the traditional Finnish legal concept known as everyman's right. But together with these wide-ranging rights comes the responsibility to respect nature, other people, and property. Read the: Rules for Using Wilderness Huts.

When is the best time to visit Finland?
It depends on what you’d like to experience: for plenty of snow and winter activities, December to March is the best time. For springtime sun and the revival of nature after the winter, April to May is the period. For long and warm summer days and plenty of events, opt for June, July and August. For autumn leaf colour, visit in September-October.

I don’t speak any Finnish, will I manage?
If you speak English, you should not have any difficulties as most Finns speak fluent (or at least understandable) English.

Finland invites you to have the experience of your life time. Come and get to know our beautiful country. You will get to know a rich culture, generous people and a language that not so many people know in the world. We are waiting for you!

Katkelma lempi kirjastani Punaisen yön kaupungit. kirj. William S. Burroughs

I saw two rainbows in Amazon rainforest leaving from then same spot. In Venezuela´s side of Amazonas exactly.

Teach, Learn, Share

Hiking and trekking for beginners

Embarking on an adventure holiday is probably the best way to have some fun-filled time and to test one’s stamina and endurance levels. There are not many adventure activities apart from trekking that offer as much excitement and thrill. The urge to test one’s physical endurance, discover unknown territories, understand the fragility of mountain ecology, study the existence of flora and fauna at high altitude, and learn about distinct geography is what drives people towards trekking.

The scope of discovering the many hidden secrets of Nature in a fun-filled environment makes trekking no less than a crash course in Nature. Trekking is an activity that challenges the physical as well as the mental aspects of an adventure fanatic. This adventure activity offers an amazing adrenaline rush and you will be really surprised to know that trekking also leads to some permanent benefits.

My best treks

Machu Picchu, Andes Peru
Pic du Midi, Pyrenees France
