About Me

CURRENT MISSION

My sons have opened my eyes to another dimension of travel when we have decided ther is no time to loose in seeing all the places and experiencing the atmospheres of other cultures - e have waited a long time for this and this is the year we start.

ABOUT ME

I live with my husband Gerry and two dogs and cat in Lane Cove, Sydney. Our sons Tristan and Dom are ardent couch surfers and about to leave for Ethiopia - where they already have a couch! Also love the bush and animals, the arts, passionate discussions, finding someone to patiently speak French with, and yes, I admit,I am a foodie. Can't believe I am 63 - how did that happen, I feel I am ready to start new adventures and to meet like minds is the most stimulating of experiences. Maybe I can encourage more people of my age group to do this, those who are not inclined to the routine suburban life and still aspire to develop their bohemian side.

PHILOSOPHY

I like the Australian Aboriginal belief that the earth owns us rather than that we own the earth and can treat it as we wish to our own ends. If humans have a soul, so do all creatures, and it is beyond our right to treat other species with cruelty and lack of respect for their physical needs. The same for the forests, oceans and all eco-systems.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have just joined and we are off to Tasmania in February for a few days - let's see if we kick off our new interest there with a litle couch surfing! When we return we hope to invite some travellers to have coffee or a meal with us.

Interests

Film, dancing, walking, especially with my dogs by the water, picking wild things and preserving or pickling them, reading the paper and good books, gardening and getting something to grow, drinking in history, cooking a beautifully balanced meal and sharing it with my family and friends, tinkering with silly ideas like writing a book one day (thus justifying endless scraps of scribbled-on paper).

Music, Movies, and Books

Noisy Hollywood blockbusters are out.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Been brave and stupid enough to run my own cafe and work 70 hours a week to follow a dream.
