About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To take your clothes, your boots, and your motorcycle.

ABOUT ME

Gentle, slightly introverted, with a taste for the absurd, and a longing for adventure.

Having trained as a sculpture restorer, I've naturally been working as a cinema usher for the past year, with only the occasional statue polishing thrown in for good measure.

I like to make my own clothes, although having taught myself, my creations so far have had varying degrees of success. I like to go tramping through forests especially, and finding a nice sunny spot and read a history book. I have a dedicated film room in my house, so I guess I'm quite into watching all sorts of films and kino. I enjoy making delicious dinners and then endlessly deliberating over my nutritional intake. I like learning new skills and subjects - I'm trying to teach myself guitar but not having much luck, if anyone wants to help me out it would be much appreciated. I especially love drawing and making exciting pictures and objects. Dancing (erratically and without any sort of overall purpose) is something I love to do, but since I've been in Edinburgh have not really done much of. I like poncing around art galleries and talking about the sculptures. There are many other things I enjoy doing, maybe you would like to stay with me or host me and you could just in fact find out ALL about them. Or not.

PHILOSOPHY

I want to live a happy a life, and will do so by living humbly, curiously, and respectfully.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've met a fair few wonderful people through couch surfing, and do enjoy inviting new people into my home, sharing experiences, and invariably getting cooked deliciously weird and wonderful foods from around the world!

So far, I've not really done any wandering far from home; I've certainly slept on peoples couches, but generally not as part of a wholesome CouchSurfing experience, more a i'm-too-tired-too-catch-a-night-bus-home experience.

Interests

I love learning about history and the stories that linger in places. I like to draw and make pictures with photographs. I like walking and I love to wander aimlessly, whether it be in a city or in the hills. Forests are my favourite places. I do bell ringing in churches, and I make my own clothes.

Music, Movies, and Books

Lots and lots.

For various reasons I've spent an enormous amount of my life so far watching all sorts of films. Some filmmakers whose films I often go back to watch include Shane Meadows, Wes Anderson, Werner Herzog, RW Fassbinder, Terence Davies, Charlie Kaufman, Lucio Visconti, and Mike Leigh.

With music, I'm open to quite a variety. My most recent regular listens includes Roy Orbison, Nick Drake, Final Fantasy, Beirut, Elvis, Architecture in Helsinki, the Supremes, the Shirelles, Smog, Amy Winehouse, Leonard Cohen, Tom Waits and Belle and Sebastian.

I read all sorts of books too; the last 5 books I've read were Flann O'Brian: The Third Policeman, Walter Tevis: Mockingbird, Marshall Bermann: All that is Solid Melts into Air, Umberto Eco: Foucaults Pendulum, and Italo Calvino: If on a Winters Night a Traveller. I read a mixture of novels, poetry, histories, and critical theory.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Mmmmmm.
