About Me

CURRENT MISSION

My old mission was "Build Impenetrable, Comfortable Bubble". My current mission is, "Break Bubble".

ABOUT ME

Student, stand-up comic, and dad are the three biggest components of my personal definition right now. Unfortunately each is diametrically opposed from the other, but I'm still making it all work somehow.

PHILOSOPHY

None in particular.

However, and I have slight trepidation in admitting that the quote of a fictitious hitman serves as my philosophy, but the best expression I've heard was in the film Collateral: "Improvise, adapt to the environment, Darwin, shit happens, I Ching, whatever man, we gotta roll with it."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm new, but as my stand-up career has shifted to a more on-the-road endeavor I'm excited to meet new people in all the places I'm now travelling to.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've stayed on quite a few couches (even slept under a bridge or two in my youth) and used to have a revolving door of guests at a shared house. I haven't hosted in a while, but I am interested.

Interests

I'm a geek, so geek stuff: Video games, comic books, movies, Firefly, et cetera. Aside from that, it gets more eclectic: sewing, cooking, soccer, news, trivia.

Music, Movies, and Books

Trainspotting, Eels, Curb Your Enthusiasm, A Confederacy of Dunces, Y: The Last Man, The Office (UK), A Heartbreaking Work Of Staggering Genius, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Tchaikovsky, Freaks and Geeks, Slim Whitman, Katamari Damacy, and on and on and on.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

What a weird question. Every time I think of one thing, I think how three others blow it away if seen from the perspective of that time.

Teach, Learn, Share

Anything "geek" I probably know. I'm also pretty good at explaining concepts through analogy. I explained recursive functions in programming to my fellow students by using the movie Inception. I convinced a young group of college students that normalizing a database is an exercise is in philosophy, not technology.

Countries I’ve Visited

Mexico, Peru

Countries I’ve Lived In
