Overview
About Me
Previously I was a student of history department in Kyiv University, Ukraine. Also I spent an Erasmus+ semester in Thessaloniki, Greece and currently don't miss a chance to explore the world outside. After graduating I was accepted to University of Tartu so then I moved to Estonia and then to Glasgow, Scotland. Now for summer I stay in Kyiv till next autumn semester.
Nastya is studying History at the same University in Kyiv where I did and we try to travel a lot that is the reason why we are here.
Also I have my own project of night theatrical guide-tours in interesting places of Kyiv in 19th and 20th century, telling about everyday life of students and intellectuals in 19th century and about revolution in 1917-1921.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
That is an interesting way to get a new experience and feel the country and city where I stop from different sides and better. Especially I appreciaty the tips about local life from locals. And of course to get new friends!
This is also a nice way to ruin some stereothypes about locals or to gain a new experience. CS has helped me a lot in that. Especially thanks to our previous amazing hosts!
Interests
History, literature, play the guitar. Especially history of ancient world and medieval ages as I study at depatment of ancient history and architecture, like gothic and baroque churches. If you take me to medieval or baroque cathedral - it's the best gift for me:)
In every new city or country I usually try to find typical local cafes or pubs to feel the spirit of this region and, of course, visit all churches - that is my hobby.

Music, Movies, and Books
Well, usually I read scientific literature but among favourite writers are Erich Maria Remark, Ernest Hemingway, Dostoevsky, Conan Doyle, Zhadan, Kostenko, Anthony Doerr etc.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Well, whole summer 2016 I spent in travelling through Ukraine (and it is the biggest country in Europe because of its square, so you can imagine, how big it is) and I have been to its all regions - from east to west and from south to north. Hope that in some years I will say that about whole world! In summer 2017 I spent 3 weeks from Poland to Switzerland and have spent...50 euros for all that, so that's my unique experience. Together with my girlfriend Nastya we made a great winter trip: Warsaw, Torun, Prague, Milan, Venice, Triest, Ljubliana, Zagreb, Sarajevo, Belgrad, Skopje and Thessaloniki during 2 winter weeks on Christmas and 2018 New year. During the whole trip we stopped with CS or our friends, had night buses and unique experience. I have also lived in a monastery in mount Athos in winter 2017. Well, to be honest I was going there first only just for one day but was trapped because of storms (and it is possible to reach it only on the ferry). So instead of studies at the university I spent several days at the mount Athos.
Teach, Learn, Share
A lot of talks about history and culture of different regions of Europe as well as about food in different places of Europe, our trips and experience.
Teach Ukrainian, Russian, Greek or Latin:)
What I Can Share with Hosts
I have a pretty nice experience on travelling through Balkans and Greece, which can seem to be a bit hard to plan (indeed it is!). Also if you want to find a nice conversation about history, politics or culture of this region, we are always ready!
