About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To learn about the world and myself.

ABOUT ME

An easy-going, friendly person, open to all sorts of new experiences and cultures. Former vegetarian (and vegetarian-friendly), eco-minded, adore animals, languages, travel, DIY, funny TV-series, gadgets, and coffee (tea is good too). I'm no party animal, so won't be able to show you much nightlife, but I'm open to experiencing things together with you. I am somewhat of an introvert, however, and shy.

I am very keen on capoeira, photography, interior, graphic, and industrial design, translating, and reading everything and anything I can get my hands on. I spent three years working and volunteering at the Biblical Zoo, so ask me about animals at your own risk.

I like making new friends and hosting people, and try to accommodate different styles of guests and not be overbearing and fussy if you don't want me to.

PHILOSOPHY

Try to try everything, though perhaps within reason, and say yes before saying no. Family comes first, and that includes pets.

Music, Movies, and Books

I read almost anything. My favorites include Neil Gaiman, Terry Pratchett, Bernard Malamud, Marjane Satrapi, John Green, Joanne Harris, Vladimir Nabokov, Joseph Brodsky, Jeffrey Eugenides, Michael Chabon, Nathan Englander, David Mitchell, Alison Bechdel, Craig Thompson, Tom Gauld, Gerald Durrell, Diana Wynne Jones, J.K. Rowling, Jonathan Safran Foer, Mark Haddon, Wisl‚awa Szymborska, Ernest Hemingway, and so many more.

Films I've loved include The Fall, Sideways, The Illusionist, Dead Poets Society, The Angels' Share, A Single Man, The King's Speech, The Boat That Rocked, Calendar Girls, Billy Elliot, Another Country, Hiding And Seeking, Deconstructing Harry and most of the other Woody Allen titles I've seen, Juno, Rainman, Entre Les Murs, Les Choristes, Jasminum, and more.

And I do like my TV-shows, such as Friends, The Big Bang Theory, Modern Family, Coupling, Will and Grace, Black Books, Reba, and Sherlock.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Snow covering the roofs of Jerusalem's ancient Old City.
A valley of pebbles in the Zarafshan riverbed, Uzbekistan.
An elephant playing delicately all by herself at the zoo where I worked.
A little boy throwing a ball alone in a huge yard in Venice's Jewish quarter.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can take you to a capoeira class if there's one available, or to the zoo, or we can go on a photo quest together.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belarus, Czech Republic, Egypt, Estonia, France, Germany, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Latvia, Poland, Ukraine, Uzbekistan
