About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to find my Self through learning from all those I encounter on my path

ABOUT ME

I am very lucky about meeting amazing people in my life. This is my biggest blessing. I love learning from those I meet.
I like everything life offers: quiet evenings and meeting people, being in relationship and being single, practicing yoga and going wakeboarding.

I love it all, but I guess it's be more useful to add some practical things about myself. So... I do not drink, one glass of wine makes me dizzy, so I like to savour it. I do not smoke. I'm not what's called "a party animal", but enjoy a good a company. I love public places to observe hustle and bustle outside, sometimes it brings my way amazing people. Or in the park, in the street...

I am an experienced homemaker so I keep things tidy and organized and am respectful to the house and possessions of my host. I enjoy giving a hand if neccessary.

I am a chatter box when I am excited or nervous, so feel free to interrupt me. :)

I teach English and since last year I teach yoga at the local Ashtanga Yoga Centre. I read a lot, my KIndle is among the first things I pack wherever I go.

PHILOSOPHY

"It is all about you." All events and people, no matter good or bad happen to me for a reason. I drag them into my life. They are reflection of myself: my wishes, my likes, my attitudes, my unspoken thoughts and unasked questions. I am grateful for them to come and I try to learn my lesson. I learn to write this misterious book "The World According to Me".

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I wanted to mention that I am a CS-virgin, but remembered one story that probably led me to this community. A natural hosting experience. A year ago before leaving to Thailand I was asked to take couple of souvenirs that two young Thai engineers had forgotten on their visit to Moscow. Souvenirs were pretty valuable (two big Matreshka dolls) and I agreed. The guys, Arkom and his friend, met me at the airport, took the dolls, thanked me and left. I was supposed to meet a friend of mine who had arrived a day before but didn't show up. I was first time in Thailand and felt a bit lost. So I called my new acquaintances, explained the situation and even though they were already half an hour away from the airport they returned to pick me up. They were on the way home to Pattaya and I was welcomed to join them. I was offered a couch at Arkom's friend's house, taken to a dinner, then Fish Festival (everybody stared at me as I was the only Westerner there), visited his family, went to the sea, to the Thai Airline technical headquaters where they worked and all that in 24 hours. The next day Arkom helped me to get on a bus to Bangkok. So my first impression of Thailand was through the eyes of simple local citizens and I simply felt in love with the country and visited it 2 more times last year...

Music, Movies, and Books

I am a great reader. Genres change depending on the period of my life. At the moment I am interested in motivational, spiritual, yoga, psychological literature.

movies: The Man from Eath; The Secret; The Shift; The Cloud Atlas

books: Your Erroneous Zones; The New Earth; Eat.Pray.Love; Never hit a Jellyfish with a Spade; Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus; What Makes People Tick; You ll See It When You Believe It;

As I practice yoga my music interests gravitate to chanting, e.g. Deva Premal. I also enjoy live bands in pubs. I had absolutely amazing experience meeting musicians in Hong-Kong and Thailand.

When I make new acquaintaces I usually ask to exchnage 4 favourite songs and books and that tells a lot about a person. So my playlist looks like:

1. Gayatri Mantra by Deva Premal
2. Just Dance by Lady Ga-Ga
3. Rain (9 lovely minutes of rain and thunderstorm without any music background)
4. Shine on You Crazy Diamond by Pink Floyd

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Mantas in Maldives. The feeling of encountering some alien form of life still chases me. Enormous and gracious, they don't swim but fly under the surface of the sea. It's a must see experience!
