Books that come to mind - different novels by Douglas Coupland and Jonathan Safran Foer, "Nausea" by Jean-Paul Sartre, Harry Potter again :), "The Dharma Bums" by Jack Kerouac, "The Dispossessed: An Ambiguous Utopia" by Ursula Le Guin.
