About Me
I am a teacher of English, German and Russian. I work mostly online from my home office.
I like traveling but not as a simple tourist - I either take part in exchange programs or assist a group of kids in their traveling projects. I am also busy with global education programs and help Russian teenagers and young adults to find schools, volunteer projects or universities abroad in order to travel with sense.
I live in a private house in the suburbs of Izhevsk in Russia now. It is a rural place but it takes about 20-30 min to reach the city by public bus. I also work in the city, so sometimes I am able to drive.
I am married and have a daughter born in 2012. And we can offer a free meal with us.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Just after graduating from my university I took part in an Au-Pair program and had a lovely time with the host family in Frankfurt, in Germany. It was the best solution to improve my German. I still keep them in my heart. And of course, I traveled a lot in Germany.
Then I got nominated for the Fulbright scholarship by the American Department of States and became a Teaching Assistant for one academic year at Mercyhurst University in Erie, PA, in the United States. I was teaching Russian as a foreign language at the Department of World Languages there. I was trying to get the best experiences out of my 9-month-long stay in the USA. I was eager to learn about the local lifestyle and just have fun, so I hosted myself twice in my campus apartment and then I was a couchsurfer myself in Denver, Las Vegas, and Anaheim on my 3-week travel in the States. Great time!
Now I am involved in global education and teach kids foreign languages at the local school. Many of them participate in cultural exchange programs abroad. Offering you a stay in my house means I want to host somebody who is open to meet kids at my school in return and share his\her traditions with them, so a presentation is a sufficient part of your application. I don't feel like welcoming strange people who are just seeking free accommodation and meals - you have to explain why you want to stay with my family. Safety is also essential for us.
