ABOUT ME

I'm a Finnish person. This means that I'm fairly down-to-earth and quite polite. I tend to keep my distance at first, and sometimes I get hit by a good dose of the Nordic melancholy. I try to think positively, but the truth is that deep inside I just happen to be more of a pessimist. Please don't get offended if I seem shy or introvert at first - I just sometimes take a bit of time to feel comfortable around new people. But when I do, I'm mostly fun and easy-going.

And the good thing about us Finns is that once we're in your life, it's hard to get rid of us - we're incredibly loyal and trustworthy. So if I like you, you can always count on me!

I like to challenge myself but sometimes I need more persuasion for it. My 'no's can pretty easily be changed into 'sure-why-not's even when my original reaction seems very strict. Generally I'm a little bit afraid of everything new, but I try to keep in mind that all scary things are usually worth doing anyways!

I'm a pescaterian (=vegetarian who eats seafood), just so you know, so don't expect beef if you ever visit my couch.

Back when I still traveled a lot, I found CS the perfect way to save money and meet new people. Now that I've more or less settled down (read: got stuck in one place), I sometimes like to get out of my comfort zone and open my home for strangers. It's a good way to get some perspective on other ways of live, I think.

Interesting movies, fascinating books,
all kinds of music, old school adventure games,
different languages, saving money, tea parties,
nature (all kinds), hiking (I walk pretty fast), cycling (I bike really slowly), swimming (I mostly just float around), everything related to the ocean, photographing inanimate objects,
running like someone was chasing after me,
getting lost in the woods,
lying in tall grass and hanging out with bugs and butterflies.

I'm also really interested in laughing until my face cramps (and I'm fairly good at it, too).

As far as traveling goes, I tend to be the on-a-shoe-string type who just walks around in awe and sits in parks drinking coffee. I'm not really that into bars or clubbing but I do enjoy a few beers in good company, preferably somewhere high up with a view over the city.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

The summer I spent in Greenland left its marks on my little soul. The icebergs keep coming back to me in my dreams... Did you know that icebergs have a magical turquoise glow about them? It is hauntingly beautiful.

Also travelling aimlessly around New Zealand for six months was quite a defining experience.

I'm quite the linguist so I'm always eager to learn more languages - and of course I am more than happy to share my knowledge with others. Prepare yourself for some questionably useful Finnish/Swedish phrases that I will teach you!
