About Me
Absolutely love life it's definitely the best thing since sliced bread (in fact I have a feeling that it probably supersedes sliced bread)...
I really love travelling although I didn't really start travelling until I turned 26 when I started training in the Chinese martial art Wing Chun, having studied martial arts from a young age this is one particular style that I had always wanted to study and after moving to Reading, UK I finally found a school and have travelled extensively to carry on training.
A real love of mine is helping those less fortunate than myself, I have spent the last 5 years working with people who suffer from learning difficulties on the autistic spectrum, as well as people who have disabilities although I personally prefer the term less able.
I am always ready to meet new people and undertake new challenges and am currently travelling around Australia on a working holiday visa.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I have decided that the best way to really experience different cultures is to fully immerse yourself in the culture by spending time with locals from the chosen destination that you travel to...
I first experienced this whilst in Thailand after meeting and becoming friends with the owner of a souvenir shop that stood out from the rest because they made all their own products.
I got to see parts of Thailand that I wouldn't have seen otherwise.
I also became part of a much bigger family when I started training in Wing Chun and we would often extend hospitality to groups of fellow practitioners should they be visiting or coming across to do some training - I once had 10 friends from Italy all come and stay in my house and the generosity was returned when I visited Italy and 12 of us stayed at another Wing Chun family members house.
Interests
I never know where to start with interests so instead of waffling on I will literally just make a list because I have a feeling it will be easier to digest (we can always delve into each other's interests whilst surfing each other's couches)...
- I love to read but mainly non fiction books (I am reading Never Ending Story now whilst I travel Australia)
- Cooking & making food, nothing better than a home cooked meal (with the obligatory glass of wine obviously)
- Martial Arts and Fitness, I love a good run...
- Learning new skills and then passing them on to others
- Teaching, I can teach English and Martial Arts and love both...
- Travelling (probably should have been at the top of the list)

What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share culinary delights and will quite happily buy ingredients and cook a meal alternatively I can assist with cooking washing up etc...
I can teach you some Martial Arts... A private lesson would normally cost around £25 for an hour...
I can help hosts whose native language isn't English with any bits they might be struggling with...
I also normally carry cards against humanity with me whilst travelling which is fantastic for having a good old giggle.
