À propos de moi

I left my job as a supermarket manager in the UK in August 2014 to travel around the world, with only street music to support me! Since then I have been on the road with my long time travelling companion, James. I have so far seen France, Spain, Morocco, Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Holland and Portugal, but soon would like to venture beyond Europe.

Along the way we have had many adventures, and ended up settling in a few places longer than expected because of musical opportunities, or simply because we loved the cities. As of now, I'm starting a new trip, hitchhiking from England to Russia and beyond with my girlfriend, Marlene. Hopefully we meet you somewhere along the way! Sadly this naturally means I am unable to host for now, but once we're settled we will of course return all of those couchsurfing favors!

Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing

I feel that to really understand a city or place, you need to meet people from that place. Having spent a lot of time in hostels, I've found that hanging out with fellow tourists acts as a barrier preventing you from learning about the culture of where you are visiting. And as a native English speaker, I would also like greater opportunities to learn foreign languages! In return I always guarantee to keep the fridge stocked with beer and share my music with you, as well as a guitar lesson or two if you like!

Centres d'intérêt

I have always been a keen musician, and since travelling have realised that I actually can live from what I love! Since travelling I've also found that I love hiking, skiing and the great outdoors in general. I've recently started teaching myself photography.

Morceaux de musique, films et livres

Busking has made me realise that I will always love the Beatles, but for listening I also enjoy contemporary alternative bands such as Deerhunter, Tune-yards, Purity Ring, Animal Collective, Real Estate, LCD Soundsystem, etc. For movies, Hitchcock, Coen brothers, Lars von Trier, Tarantino... my one regret is not reading more books... the last I read was probably Kafka's The Trial, longer ago than I'd like to admit...

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue

During my very first couchsurfing experience (not through the website, but after a chance meeting on a bus) a group of us hiked up a mountain, swam across an icy lake at 2000m, climbed a cliff barefoot, explored and abandoned mine, (rather dangerously) scaled a skilift pylon for breathtaking views, and in the evening our host taught us how to breathe fire. Nothing individually to be that proud of, but probably the best one day of my travels so far and one I will never forget.

Enseignez, apprenez, partagez

I am pretty good at piano and guitar, so if you wanted a lesson or two that would be no problem! Also as a native English speaker I'd always be happy to help out with language exchange.
